If you have used the program, I'd like your input -

Did you do the meetings? Are they worth it/helpful? At what point did you stop going to them? What exactly happens in a meeting?

What about the online membership? How is it helpful? Is it worth it? How long did you use it until you could handle things on your own? Would you recommend it?

Overall did you have success with the program/enjoy it? If you didn't like it, please elaborate. I have seen so many success stories involving people I know & if they can do it, I know I can do it. I like the idea of eating normal food & not having to buy anything fancy. That, and you don't starve & you get to pick what you eat & have variety. I just had a health screening & my BMI is not where it needs to be & I need to lose weight.

Thanks!

What can I do next?

I successfully lost weight on WW and enjoyed going to the meetings each week. Once you reach your goal weight and maintain it for 6 weeks (within 2 lbs), you become a lifetime member. Once you are a liftime member, you no longer have to pay for meetings. When I got to my goal weight many of the members, including other lifetime members, encouraged me to continue going to meetings, saying it would be a big key in keeping the weight off. I listened for a while, but when the meeting I attended was cancelled, I stopped going. It did not take long for the weight to start coming back on. Long story short, I found another meeting location in my area, am going back to meetings each week, and losing the weight I gained back. For me, the meetings are very helpful. You get a ton of great tips and support from others who are going through the same thing. No judgment from people because we're all in the same boat. I also like the accountability of weighing in weekly.

Many people are successful doing the on-line program. Not me. I need the personal, one-on-one type experience and accountability.

I also like the variety the WW affords members as far as what foods you can eat. You really can eat what you want. You just have to fit it into your points allowance.

I agree with Mommyc-- tracking your food and points is very important. Those who do so consistently tend to be much more successful at losing and maintaining.

Good luck to you! I believe in most locations, they will let you sit in on one meeting for free to see what you think. You may want to try that!

My daughter used Weight Watchers. They had meetings at her place of work. She loved the program, lost weight and had fun with other women at the same time.

She changed jobs and so stopped Weight Watchers. She thought of using it online but decided it would be different without personal contact to reinforce her efforts.

I am currently doing just the online program. If you stick with it, it is pretty easy to lose weight. I lost about 15 pounds in about 10-11 weeks. I haven't been tracking my food lately, so I think I may have gained a couple of pounds back, but I plan to get back on track. I did also start walking more during this time, so I'm sure that also contributes some to the weight loss.

Anyway, you really have to be very diligent about tracking everything you eat if you decide to do it. You will see results if you stick to the program. Keep lots of fruit and veggies on hand, because you will be hungry otherwise!

If you need support i think the meetings are helpful to keep you on track. Go to the website and see if the plan is one that you think you can do. I think it works just fine if it is for you. My husband did okay on this many years ago. More recently he used my plan, which is two meal replacements per day and one normal meal. He likes that because he thinks less, but still feels sated when he eats the replacements.

Choose something you feel you can succeed at. If WW sounds good, go for it. If it sounds complicated, then start looking at other plans. I can send you to a link to look at my plan if you like.

Choose something, exercise and find support from a friend. You go girl!

I have been on weight watchers after my babies were born. I think it is a great program and I found the online membership helpful because I could track points and look up points there quickly. I attended the meetings when I could, they help keep you motivated but I didn't always have time. My Mom did WW too and liked the meetings because she always heard of great tips or food items to try. It is easy and for me I needed the weekly weigh-ins to keep motivated. Professionally I am a Registered Dietitian and Weight Watchers, in my opinion, teaches people how to eat healthier foods and portions for life. It is the only weight loss "plan" I would subscribe. Being an RD it was easier for me because I already knew foods, calories, etc but the weighing in gave me the motivation I needed when I was so busy with baby. Even being an RD I have learned from them and am successfully losing my last 5# on my own. I only needed to be part of it for a few months but it will depend on your motivation how long you go. After the first few weeks you will know the program, but the longer you are there the more motivated you will stay. Good luck!
