Weight Watchers

I have heard positive things about Weight Watchers, but I'm not sure about joining. I need to lose about 60lbs, and I haven't had a lot of luck on my own.
Can anyone give me any feedback on their experiences with Weight Watchers? Can you just get the books and do it yourself? Do the meetings help that much? Are they embarassing?
I live in North Lakeland.
Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks!

What can I do next?

Hi A.,
My mother-in-law started weight watchers over a month ago, and it has been a great success for her. She is just like you has tried many different things on her own, and it didn't work for her either. She walks 3 miles everday, sticks to her point system and goes to the meeting every week. She said she would have never followed through with it if she did not go to the mettings. Everyone at the meetings are there for the same thing, and have things in common. Together they can help be positive, and halp you to keep moving forward. I would think that going to the meetings would be best. Maybe you can get to know someone there, and you can do it together to keep one another motivated. I wish you the best of luck, and keep in mind that you can do this!!!

my mom has been using weight watchers and she loves it! She has lost tons of weight. And it wasn't hard. She says the meetings are very motivational. She didn't seem to think it was embarassing. Most importantly it worked.

I had great result once before but gained my weight back.. I know of someone that went online and did weight watchers and have great results. You just have to pay ahead but it gives you tips and tracker. The people at the meetings never embarras you at all. They only talk about postive things unless you want to talk about something else.

I have been a member of Weight Watchers since last November and it definately works... as long as you follow the plan. It is really hard to get the information and do it on your own. It is more than just a diet is a program that helps you recognize your bad behavior (sounds like we are talking about our kids, heehee) and change that behavior. That is why the meetings are so important, you learn from each other. It is not embarrasing to be there, just knowing there is a room full of people that have gone through and are going through all of the same struggles you are really helps. I always leave the meetings motivated and ready to have a great week. The only negative I can find is the money! You have to pay for it but I find that to be yet another motivator. I found a small meeting in the city I work in and go after work. I also have a couple of friends that are doing it too and that makes it easier when we have get togethers, I can do WW food and not get "the looks" :). Good Luck with your weight loss I hope this helps a little.

Hi A.,

I never did Weight Watchers, but I did Jenny Craig and lost 45 pounds before I got pregnant. I have heard good things about weight watchers though, I just preferred the one on one treatment of the Jenny Craig system. Good luck!

I have heard it is a great program. I have 2 friends who have lost weight on it abour 40 - 50 lbs each one of them. But they both started online with not much luck and moved on to the weekly meetings and started having many results.
Good Luck, L.

I lost 40lbs on Weight Watchers prior to my pregnancy and will swear by it for the rest of my life. I loved it so much I encouraged 6 friends and family members to join. One of my friends had just had her second son (17 months after her first) and was trying to lose the baby fat from both kids. She too was lactating and went from a 14 to a 4 in 8 months!!!! She has kept the weight off ever since!
Some people complain about recording what you eat and the whole point value system, but I loved it, because you learn what foods are worth fast and can then make an educated decision as to whether it is worth eating or not.
You have more than enough to eat on the program, so you are not starving and you learn wonderful recipe's and snack alternatives at the meetings and in the literature they offer you. I loved it and am starting back myself.

A.,I REALLY LIKE WW,THIS IS MY THIRD TIME GOING THERE,FIRST TIME ILOST 35 POUNDS AND GET PREGNAANT,SECOND 30 POUNDS AND PREGNANT AGAIN, AND NOW THIS IS MY THIRD TIME (I AM SURE IAM NOT GOING TO GET PREGNANT!!AGAIN)I LIKE THE PROGRAM CAUSE IS EASY TO FOLLOW,YOU EAT PRETTY MUCH WHAT YOU WANT TO EAT,AND THE SUPPORT THAT I GET FROM THE MEETINGS IS VERY IMPORTANT,I GET IDEAS,SUPPORT,RECIPES,I LIKE IT.PLEASE FEEL FREE TO EMAIL ME IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS.
GOOD LUCK
S.
