Weight Loss Pill?

I am thinking about getting on a weight loss pill. I was considering adipex but my obgyn thinks that meridia would be better. She said it has no harmful side affects and is non addictive. I want to loose about 55 pds. and I think that would give me some motivation to do so. I was wondering if anyone has been on meridia before and if they liked the results it gave them?

What can I do next?

I don't know about Meridia, but my OB prescribed Adipex for me and it was FANTASTIC!!! I lost 40 pounds in the first 2 months. I was totally free of any weird side effects. It didn't make me feel funny at all, it just made me not hungry. He only prescribed it for two months but I have continued to eat right and exercise and have lost another 10 or so on my own. Good luck!

Hello S.-I am 48 and have done several different weight loss pills and would lose a little weight but then gained it back and more.
On October the 10th I started with Isagenix and have lost 20 pounds and 23 inches. It has been very easy the shakes are very good I have tried others that tates bad and who wants to drink that?? We have a maintenance program that helps keep off the weight. I would be your personal coach (mine lives in Washington DC and I live in GA) so distance is not a problem. We are all about proper nutrition not just losing weight so check out my website at www.inchesgone.isagenix.com and the company and products at www.isamovie.com wholesale pricing is available and you COULD make some extra money if interested. So check us out and let me know what you think! P. Geiger

I have to agree with the first 2 responses. As a pharmacist, I can't recommend either drug..meridia is very expensive & can cause b/p & heart problems, as can adipex, though it is much less expensive...if u must, try it first. It really has to be a lifestyle change to really be succesful & lasting. Positive affirmations thruout the day can help too...saying how you are enjoying being your ideal size of "?". Really, it works & ask for God's help too!

Something else to try is finding an accountability partner who also has goals to reach. You can find one on a message board at www.gofigure8.com or access this website from www.arbonne.com. It's a healthy program for weight maintenance using vegetable protein & fiber shakes, healthy energy drinks using herbs & stevia instead of artificial sweeteners & harmful chemicals. If I can help you, please let me know! God bless & merry Christmas to all!

Just stop eating meat. and drinking sodas, if you drink a lot of soda. An ex-boyfriend of mine did those two things - oh, and started exercising - and lost over 100 lb.

A reasonably healthy diet is best overall. If you just take a pill to lose weight, you're still eating unhealthy things, which means you get sick more often and are more likely to get things like cancer and heart disease. Eating healthfully, and living healthfully, makes you glow. It also helps you think better, feel more alert and active, and it gives you a more youthful appearance - which will also last longer through the years. Otherwise, the best you get is: skinnier, but, you know, haggard-looking, and you still need half a pot of coffee to feel like you have any energy. Not exactly lovely.

Check out some new recipes. They're way more motivating (and fun) than any stupid pill. Just find some healthful things that appeal to you (it's not all just carrots and salad). Substitute those for your least-healthy meals. While you're at it, look around for some healthy-ish snacks that will satisfy your biggest, worst cravings, and substitute those for the bad things.

And ask attractive, fit, vibrant-looking women what *they* do that makes them look so good. It is not just genes or different metabolisms - or if the latter, be aware that metabolisms are affected by the ways we eat and live. Do what they do.

I would work on starting an exercise plan and using portion control before I'd take any "miracle" weight loss drugs. Changing your lifestyle & habits is really the only way to lose weight and keep it off. You don't have to starve or deprive yourself - just eat less of what you love and more "good for you" stuff. Simple but effective.

Taking a pill to "cure" weight issues sounds easy & too good to be true because it is. Let becoming healthy for yourself and your kids be your motivation instead of a pill.

I would recommend reading all you can on line about both.

You should carefully research Meridia's side effects before you go ahead with it. There have been deaths associated with Meridia as well as other side effects your doctor may not be aware of.

Of course, any medication you take is going to come with some type of risk associated with it, so it's up to you to get as much information about those risks as you can, so that you can make an informed decision.

Have you considered Alli?

I have tried all kinds of diets and pills through the years but the most effective and long lasting results I ever had was going to weightwatchers. You have to go to the meetings though and I have seen women bring their kids sometimes! I have not tried meridia but I do know that any diet pill you take will not train you to eat the right types of foods and you may end up losing more muscle than fat. Check WW out!
