Ya gotta exercise.

Graze in small amounts throughout the day, instead of eating 3 big meals. Keeps the metabolism more even keeled that way.

If you are exercising... in 6-8 weeks, the body gets used to a certain exercise routine. So after that, you need to mix things up, or change the level of exertion or length or do interval training.

I know there are a few things that I have to do in order to lose weight (or at least I keep telling myself).

Make sure you are drinking enough water! I read recently, that if you aren't drinking enough water, you can gain weight.

Consider the possibility that you could have a candida problem. Candida is a yeast overgrowth in the intestines and can cause some major cravings. Sugar makes Candida grow.

Coconut oil, Oregano oil and Cinnamon all apparently have anti-fungal (kills Candida) properties....So, something to consider if you are interested in supplements. (I only go for the all natural supplements...pretty much stuff you can find in everyday food). Those supplements don't have to be taken as supplements...as they can be eaten...put some cinnamon in your oatmeal. You can cook/ bake with Coconut oil....etc.

Recently, in Woman's world magazine, they did an article about Cinnamon and how it can lower blood sugar, reduce cravings and cause you to lose tons of weight. Further research indicated it will also help lower blood pressure and suppress appetite. I do believe you have to take it during every meal for it to work and I'm not sure how long it takes to work. I've been taking it for a few days and haven't noticed a difference yet.

If you are eating well and working out, you will lose the weight - be patient and have faith in yourself! You can do it! After my second baby, I worked out, ate pretty well (I did slip up quite a bit :) and only lost a pound here and a pound there...then it would be back the next week. Then, about a month or a month and a half into it, I lost four pounds in one week! Only 1.5 returned and that is how it has been going...slow or nothing and then all of a sudden, a few pounds lost :) Over the course of several months (I think its been about 4) I have lost 10 pounds. Best of luck to you! I know it is SO tough!

Are you working out as well? Muscle weighs more than fat, so you could be gaining lbs, but losing mass. If that's not the case, The best trick I have found is to drink an 8oz glass of water before every snack and meal. The water makes me feel full before eating, and water is great for helping you lose weight. It will even help you shed some of the 'water weight' many people carry around since your body will stop trying to store so much. Good luck! :)

I hear you. It's now always how many calories you eat, but what you are eating. Not sure how old you are, but hormones can play a key as well. I have lost 8 pounds so far in three weeks by increasing protein, fruits and vegetables and completely decreasing carbs. I am doing this an easy way with a 30 day Feeling Fit Kit. I have never felt better and the weight is falling off...especially belly fat. So happy to see my muffin top going away LOL

Also, try and keep a WRITTEN food journal. it's hard to really keep an accurate count in our head as to what we really consume..as Weight Watchers will indicate, all the BLTs (bite, licks and tastes) add up....
Secondly, this may sound counter-intuitive, but you might not necessarily be taking in enough calories. Sometimes when a person first begins to try and lose weight, they cut out too many calories and therefore, what little they are eating, their bodies are holding on to for dear life and hence, the weight is not budging.. definitely, keep a journal and see what is really going down .. I think once you do this, you'll get a better scope of how you need to proceed.

Best of luck to you

There is not quick fix, no miraculous diet for losing weight. The mathematics of losing weight is quite simple: taking in less calorie than spending them. The only healthy way to lose weight is by exercising, and among the exercises, running is one of the most efficient methods, and probably of the cheapest sport. Find a group of running neighbors or a local running club to join, it helps when you are beginner to have some support from each other. Most of the running coaches would also gladly share nutrition tips as well. Combining healthy eating habit and exercise would be the key of success. If you give me your zipcode, i might find a running club nearby for you. Good luck

You didn't give a lot of info so...

If you're over 37, that's the way your body works. You have to eat less and exercise more.

Check your thyroid levels with your doctor each year. Low thyroid will cause weight gain.

Manage your stress.

Exercise, even a little bit, in the am will lower cravings. If you have stairs, you can use them to go up and down 7 times, a few times a day.
