What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

Thanks to everyone for your help! I have taken some of your ideas and(ran) with them. My husband and I started a wonderful gym and are learning better ways to prepare meals so that I don't get bored. My Husband really did'nt need it, but I am glad he decided to support me. The instructors are great and it is in a Christian atmosphere. I can not wait until I have reached my goals and I am healthier and thinner again. Thank You!

The best diet is Weight Watchers. I have lost 35-40 lbs following that diet after both of my children. My mother has lost 45. Losing weight is a life changer, but you must have the motivation to do whatever diet you choose. Motivation is the key to success.

Good morning! I am on a weight loss program, too, but I prefer to call it a "diet revision" program; I am relearning how to eat. And I got this concept from my son. He wanted to lose weight, and regain his lean, muscular physique from his twenties (he's thirty seven). I noticed he was dropping weight like crazy, and asked him how he was doing it. He showed me the "Body For Life" book. I went out and got one, and have been doing it myself. I cannot express to you how much better I feel.
As I said, it's not a "diet," as much as it retrains how you look at food, and how you eat throughout the day. I now eat five or six small meals every day, all balanced with protein/healthy fat/carbs. I also walk about three times a week, and use free wieghts for about thirty minutes three times a week.
I highly recommend Body For Life. It's a nutritionally sound program, and will "help you help yourself" to acheive your goals in the short term, and maintain them in the long term.
P.S., using these tools - Body For Life and walking/weight training - I've lost sixteen pounds in two months, a very healthy weight loss for that period of time.
Good luck!

Hi,

There is a new product that just came out called Energy that I've heard is amazing at appetite control and weight loss. A friend of a friend of mine was one of the testers and she said that she had loads of energy (without being jitter) and she lost 6 pounds her first week. She also said that her appetite was controlled to the point where she wasn't even thinking about food. It's also completely natural and comes from a very reputable company that makes some other great, natural products.
You can order it at http://www.shopgbg.com/?ID=329494

Also, a great FREE site to use for weight loss is http://sparkpeople.com/. They have support groups, calorie counters, meal planners, low fat recipes, a forum and a way to keep track of how many calories/fat you are taking in each day. It's kind of what you would do with weight watchers, but instead of counting points, you actually count calories/fat. I believe that weight watchers just converts the calories/fat into points, so it's basically the same thing. Also another great site to use it http://www.my-calorie-counter.com/calorie_counter.asp. You can use this the same way as Spark People or you can use it to see how many calories/fat are in different foods..even fast food places. They have a huge database of foods listed. I even found the sandwich I ate the other day from Panera Bread on there. I wasn't happy to see that it had 35 grams of fat and 800 calories..but at least now I know for next time!! lol

Hope you find success with your weight loss!

I completely agree with Dawn!! I have been a certified fitness instructor for almost 12 years. There is no substitute for eating a healthy, well balanced diet and exercise. Set reasonable goals and gradually increase your exercise over time. For weight loss, more cardio is recommended, but resistance training is very important, too. I have to stress that if you don't watch your diet, all of the exercise in the world won't help with weight loss. Unfortunately, there is no "magic pill" or "fad diet" that will do the trick, but with a little bit of knowledge and a strong commitment, you can do anything you set your mind to!

I know you will look and feel GREAT for your special day, and I hope that you will enjoy good health and fitness always!!

If you are really serious about losing weight you need to do two things: cut your sugars/salts and exercise. Please stay away from the pills. They can hurt you. I've lost weight using Michael Thurmond's 6 week body makeover. Here is a quick summary of the program:
+a quick online questionnaire will help you find your body type and what protein will work best for you (chicken, beef...)
+5-6 small meals a day--PORTIONS ARE SO VERY IMPORTANT
+super low sugar and sodium is key
+water, water, water
+you'll drop about 8lbs the first week just in water weight
+it's safe and makes sense
+no pills, just will power
+it'll save you so much money on food!
I basically eat oatmeal, 1/2 apple, two egg whites for breakfast; am snack is chicken and a potato; lunch is chicken, rice and 2 cups of any veggies; pm snack is apple and Simply Jif peanut butter; dinner is salmon, rice, salad; optional snack is berries. There are so many different ways you can mix and match your foods. You don't have to eat the same thing everyday. You're eating every few hours in order to kick your metabolism into high gear. When you train your body to expect food, it won't hold on to the fat (like when people starve themselves). The body will flush itself out and you'll lose weight! It has worked for all the ladies in my office and it will work for you too! Let me know how well it works for you!

I too struggle am with weight. For me, the most effective weightloss ever is when I cut, sugar, fat and anything that has the consistency of glue or has the color of glue. Add bright colors to your meal preparation. Of course increasing exercise and decreasing intake of food is the key.
Best of luck and what a wonderful incentive, repeating your vows. You can do it girl!
Blessings

I tried Hoodia and I didn't like it. It made me nervous. If your going to try diet pills you might as well do the real thing and get some adipex or phentermine. However, if your midsection is the problem, my personal trainer told me that sugars and complex carbs will go straight to a woman's midsection. You will need to buy everything in the really low sugar form. The sugarless jelly is actually good. Eat grilled chicken and salmon if you like it. Front load your carbs. In other words, eat them in the morning or before noon. Also, eating 5 small meals per day instead of three big ones. Snack on things like almonds. Also, keep a food journal. I did this for several weeks and it really holds you accountable. Write down everything you put in your mouth every day. Good luck

I recently read an article about Lucine. It's found in protein...especialy soy and whey. It helps target and shrink fat (sepecially in the belly) and it's a great for helping to lower cholesterol.

You can get a protein shake as a meal suppliment...Slimfast Optima was one mentioned in the article. I use one I found at Sam's Club called Naturade Total Soy. It actually works though. Within the first few weeks my clothes were fitting better and people were asking if I lost weight. I don't weigh myself so I can't tell you how much I lost but I did go down two pant sizes in a month.

I would drink a shake for breakfast (I normally skip breakfast) sometimes one for lunch (or I would eat a healthy meal) then I would eat a healthy protein packed dinner, such as a chicken salad or chicken and rice. You can snack in between meals as long as you keep it reasonable.

This is the same thing that all those milk commercials are trying to tell us. Drink more milk...shrink your waste. That's because milk is packed with Lucine.

You can make up your own diet plan if you prefer. Look it up and you should be able to find plenty of info on it.

The only problem I found is that when I went off the shake, I gained weight. That's because I wasn't watching what I ate. Starting tomorrow I will be back on the shake and will eat better when I get off it.

I also don't exercise, if I did I may have lost more.

Good Luck and remember to try and stay healthy in your quest for a thinner figure!
