Weight Gain with Celexa
A year ago I was diagnosed with anxiety, after going into urgent care thinking I was having a heart attack! I'm running a hectic life with two kids and working full-time, so I guess my body caught up with me. My doctor put me on Celexa, but I've gained 20 lbs. He told me to give a smaller dose a try, but my weight hasn't gotten better. Has anyone had a similar experience? I'm wondering if feeling good mentally is worth the self-image problem resulting from the weight!?

It seems from your info.
I had something similar after the birth of my little girl whom is now 4 1/2. The anxiety I had turned out to be was a thyroid problem. Which also caused some weight gain as well.
It took almost 2yrs or more to find this out. Just dbl checking you get a blood test on that as well.

Wellbutrin and effexor help with anxiety and weight gain typically isn't a side effect. Weight loss is actually more of an issue. Ask your doctor about these.

I was having a difficult time after my daughter was born and was given a medication that is the equivalent of Celexa, it is Lexapro. I have gained weight, aproximatley 15lbs. I am seeing the changes in my body after taking this med and I don't like them however not being on the med is the worse of the two evils. I have tried taking a lower doseage and have tried to cut it out but the anxiety is back again. I feel that during this time in my life being on the med outweighs the fact that I gained weight.
