Weight Gain Second Pregnancy?

When I was pregnant with my daughter, I struggled to gain weight till the end of the second trimester. Well, I am 10.5 weeks and have already gained 5 pounds! Last time, I think I had only gained about 8 by week 20!

Is this normal?

What can I do next?

In my experience each pregnancy is different. My first preg I gained about 45 lbs and was just ravenous the entire time. The second time around I only gained about 30 lbs and was feeling "off" the entire first trimester. Just eat when you're hungry, stop when you're full, and stay healthy. I wish you a great pregnancy and birth! The second kid is SOOO much easier than the first :)

Well J., I'm not sure if this is typical but maybe it'll make you feel better. I'm about 6 weeks and have already gained 5 pounds. Granted, after my first pregnancy I dropped 50+ pounds by combining proper nutrition and exercise but now that I am pregnant my doctor doesn't want my heart rate over 120 (which pretty much decimates my typical workout routine). With my first pregnancy I don't think I really gained much weight at all during the first trimester, and I only gained 24 pounds in total.

So, not sure if this actually helps but at least you know you're not alone! If you need to put your mind at ease, just call your OB - that's what you pay him/her for, right? Good luck with your pregnancy; hope everything goes wonderfully for you!

each pregnancy is different and so is the way u put on weight. As long as your eating healthy and having your regular check ups I'm sure all is good.

No doubt you're going to hear this time and time again, "every pregnancy is different."

It sounds totally normal and if you have questions, talk with your doctor to check about your progress of weight gain.

Congrats!
