Weevils...help!

I took everything out of my pantry and wiped it clean. Put back the jars and cans and then went through ALL the boxed items. Trashed what was attacked by Weevils and threw it out side.

All other items Weevil free I baged in zip lock baggies. This includes mashpotatoes, rice, flower, sugar, oat meal, cereals, seasoning pkgs. Items that you will use quickly and not sit a while are okay not to pkg up.

We had the same problem. Clean out everything, wipe the pantry. Then spray the floor of the pantry... then look for dead bugs tomorrow. And clean up. Then spray the floor again. repeat. It took 4 days of this for us to be weevil free.

Unfortunately, you need to go through your whole pantry and find any and all bagged items and see if they have been "infected". Then ziplock or rubbermaid container ALL your flours, cereals, etc from now on to try to maintain some control.

I had these little buggers a few months back. I emptied our pantry, sprayed with Raid top shelf to bottom shelf, let it dry, and then put everything back. I especially make sure all flours, rice, cereals, pasta are stored in the above containers.

When I worked at a grocery store, we got them on the rice asile and the entire aisle had to be cleared out, thrown out bags inventoried, etc.

I hate those things!!! Arghh..

Once you do all that though, they should go away.

You can put bay leaves around in your pantry and this will help keep them out of items. Some items I have put the bay leaves inside of containers. Tupperware will keep them out. Sometimes you can bring them home in food products from the stores.

we had the same problem with dog food. we were lucky they didnt spread because the food was in a plastic garbage can. I would open everything and check for them, then clear the pantry and wipe everything down. if you let them go to long they start to fly! good luck
