My husband, 2 kids (ages 9 and 7), and I are looking to go someplace for the weekend before school starts. We are looking for somewhere nearby that's family friendly with kids activities. We've already done Wisconsin Dells and Lake Geneva.
Any suggestions?

Milwaukee. The Public Museum is great - we just went a few weeks ago. I think the WI State Fair might be going on as well. I think the IL State Fair started or is starting next week too, so Springfield for the fair and the Lincoln Musuem.
New Buffalo, MI or St. Joesph, MI - both of these places are family friendly and lots of activities for kids!
We went to the 3 bears resort in Warren WI, and it was very nice
Gurnee for Key Lime Cove and Six Flags (only about 90 minutes away)
Mears, MI (about 4 hrs) for camping/boating/sand dunes, etc.
I've heard Galena is a wonderful place to visit
perfect ages to take them to the City Museum in St. Louis. There are lots of other things there as well and you can visit Springfield on the way back
