My husband and I go to Hot Springs, Arkansas for our anniversaries. There are some beautiful bed and breakfasts in the area, and a lot to see and do in the town. We also like to hike, and there are lots of areas near there to hike and camp in.

I'm not sure this is the type getaway you are talking about but the Gaylord Texan on lake Grapevine is really nice and lots of fun. You might try that. I also wanted to wish you luck with your ivf. I went through it and my hubby and I were told we had "about a 20% chance of it working and we'd probably have to go through it a few times". I'm here to tell you that first time out they put 2 back and now we have a set of happy, healthy (and WILD) twins, boy and girl. So don't worry about it. It will all be fine. Shreveport if you like to gamble,eat at nice restaurants,watch shows and if you don't, I 2nd Hot Springs Arkansas.

It wouldn't be much of a "road trip", but have you considered going to the Gaylord Texan for even just one night? It is beautiful there!

Go to Jefferson, TX. It is a neat little place. Very quiet..antiques..old soda fountain..the river tour is really neat. A really cool place...and if you are up for it it isn't far from Shreveport. Have a great time wherever you go!!
