Wedding Ceremony Ideas?

There's a place that's part of Como, but it's not right at the zoo. It's called Black Bear or something. I'm sure you can find information on it at como's website. It's got a Gazebo by the water. A friend of mine had her ceremony there and the reception upstairs. It was pretty nice.

They were worried about the possibility of wind with the candle lighting ceremony, so they did a sand ceremony. I know I've also seen some sort of glass deals (I don't know what they are called. That you can put around your unity candle too. If that's a worry.

If a church you want you can look into the fort snelling chapel, it's not big, but it is a very cute church for being so old. I used to have the prices, it was about 600 or 700, for a wedding there, that was in 2007, so I don't know what they are for 2008. GOOD LUCK AND CONGRATS

We had ours at Munsinger Gardens in St. Cloud but they limit the size of your guest list and it's probably too far. My friend got married by a retired judge in Stillwater . . .

I know you are looking in St. Paul, but if you look at the Minneapolis Parks website there are some really nice places in the area. My husband and I got married last year in August at the Minneapolis Rose Gardens. It's right on the lake so people were able to enjoy the lake and roses before or after the ceremony which gave us time to take pictures and get to the reception. It was wonderful and people seemed to have a great time. Wedding permits are around $100 for 2 hours, so it's much cheaper than the Conservatory. They have one inside location, but it probably won't hold 130 people.

Otherwise, go to Theknot.com and see what suggestions they have. It's a great resource guide for all things in the area, and planning too. Whenyou get on the site, go to "in my area", then "sites and locations" (seperated by ceremoony and reception), then you can narrow your results by price, guest count, loation, etc.

When we got married we looked at the science museum and the minnesota zoo.

We got married at the History Museum in St. Paul. We wanted the look and feel of a church, but not a church. The food was wonderful. We did it on a Friday evening for half the rate and had 120 guests. We had the ceremony on one level, went down for social hour, followed by dinner and then back up to wedding level for reception.

There is another Beautiful Garden, (different then above and again privately owned) that my cousin got married at it was out in Apple Valley somewhere. I'll try to get a hold of her.

A few years ago we attended a wedding reception in a nice quiet park in St. Paul. It was in a neighborhood and it had a nice building with beautiful views of the park, a kitchen and a dance floor. I think it could be used for a ceremony also. I can't remember the name of it, but I sent a message to the bride. If she gets back to me I'll revise this response to send you the name.

It is the Thompson County Park in West St. Paul in Dakota County. You can get information about it from the Dakota County Parks website. The building is the "Dakota Lodge" and it is either nearby or overlooking Thompson Lake. It was a very nice setting. Good luck and congratulations.

Our neighborhood in Saint Anthony Park has a 22'x22' gazebo in our little park that has hosted a number of weddings and other events. It's located at the intersection of Brewster and Gibbs streets, which is one block south of Como Ave (about two blocks west of the State Fair site) and one block east of Raymond Ave. The park could accomodate 75-130 guests, but you would have to rent your own chairs and a porta-potty. We can provide serving tables and electricity (from a home nearby). The most we would charge you would be around $100, which would go into our gazebo maintenance fund. The park is nicely landscaped and the gazebo is quite pretty. Let me know if you're interested in taking a look at the site.
