I used very non-traditional music in my wedding. As stated earlier, some churches have strict music guidelines. I used a contemporary gospel song by John P. Kee, "Come in the House". When I watch my video, I still get chills!!!
Before you make any decisions, check with your venue/church.

Canon in D is pretty common, as is Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring. We used Canon in D because I used to play piano and it's one of my favorites.
Remember it's your wedding, though! You don't have to go traditional if you don't want to! If, say, you're a U2 fan, you could totally go with "Mysterious Ways" and it would be appropriate and fun and personal. Just a thought!

I am a musician and have been the vocalist in countless weddings- there are many "traditional" songs, but a favorite for most is Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring or Sheep May Safely Graze or Air on the G String - all by Bach. You can probably find clips on these on the Internet. Good luck with your preparations. Let me know if I can help out further with the music. :)

I had my attendants walk into the church while "Trumpet Voluntary" was being played. You can find it on most CDs of traditional wedding music.

My Husband and I have a wedding videography business and have been to a wide variety of weddings. Sometimes churches have restrictions on the type of music used, but if you have an outdoor or non-church wedding you can typically use whatever you like. We used Enya at our wedding, and my friend used Shania Twain. We both used the wedding march for ourselves.
