Wearing High Heels Dancing
I never could wear high heels without my feet hurting. I would love to wear heels when dancing. I see these girls at the club, how do they do it? I am wondering if anyone is a real dancer. What is the biggest difference wearing a dancing shoe and just some pump? Would that help?
My boyfriend is not that tall, so I am not talking big heels but some. I think dresses look better and everything. NEED some suggestions? brand names? or if dancing shoes are the answer?

Where wedges, it is the best of both worlds..The sexy look of a heel and the balance and comfort of a flat.

Dance shoes are rounded and not pointed, and even though dancers get used to being on their feet shoes made for dancing are more comfortable than regular high heels. Ball room shoes are typically open toe or sandal style:

You may want to try some ball room shoes. Or find a pair of shoes that have a chunkier heel. I can only wear chunky heels in regular shoes. (Dance shoes also have a slightly thicker heel, they aren't stiletto's they need stability for dancing.)

Dancing heels just offer the straps and support in the right place. The heels on them are normally 1 1/2 inches to 2 inches. I used to dance in heels a lot (yes I am a real dance :)~). I don't know if going that route would really be your best bet, or if you would be better off trying to find a good pair of shoes with some cushiony insoles.
Go try a pair of dance heels on at a dancewear store and walk in them....

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Heels!! I wear them ALL the time. Your best bet is to go to a DSW or similar store and just try on all sorts to find what really works for YOU and not just what's the latest trend. Howevere there are always a pair of must have's staring you in the face and to help with the pain you can get the Dr. Scholl's for heels inserts. You can also try on a 1/2 size larger, I do that a lot. Also if you are looking for a heel that you can wear for more than just going out or special occasions I would recommend a skinnier heel with a slight platform on the ball of the shoe. Funny enough, Jessica Simpson shoes have a lot of these in various styles. Also, Marc Fisher, Guess, Nine West and BCBG are a few that CAN be comfy as well as stylish. Hope this helps!!

Professional dancers just get used to their feet hurting. (And they do... you get taught how to tape them so the blood doesn't stain or show through your shoes). They also take pain meds before dancing (see below).
Buying shoes 1/2 size too big and using moleskin to keep them from slipping (like on your heels and pinky toe), allows your feet to swell as you dance and help. It ALSO allows room to put in gel insoles. Glueing in gel insoles works even on strappy shoes that you wear barefoot.
Professional dance heels tend to have more arch support and heel support than the uber-pricey-flimsy-commercial shoes... but not always.
Wide heels (the kind that flare) are another trick for stability.
If you're wearing tall sexy boots with heels DO wear tube socks.
I'm also a big fan of cowboy boots. And Converse (lol... not heels, but the envious looks from all the women as they see your sneakers, is ALMOST better than having comfy feet all night).
Alcohol can help numb the pain a little. If you're NOT drinking, take 2 tylenol & 3 ibuprofen about 30 minutes before you start dancing. They both help with pain, and the ibuprofen helps with the swelling.

I love to wear heels and wear heel while I dance....can't really give you much advice on types of heels because I usually purchase on whether I think they are cute...but there are high heel workouts that you could look into - it is suppose to help you walk in them better, feel comfortable and confident so that might help...good luck!
