We Need a Dermatologist

Hi everyone-
My poor girl's struggling with a diaper rash that I just can't cure. I've tried EVERYTHING under the sun for her and we've been to the pediatrician 3 times- yet the rash hasn't abated. I want to take her to someone who takes care of pesky skin things for a living, someone who is credentialed and knows a rash when they see one. Any recommendations in the Easton/ Bethelehem area?
Thanks-
C.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

So oddly enough, I decided, as a last ditch effort, to take her off regular milk and try some Lactaid. Within a day, this rash I fought with all summer was GONE. So, apparently, she's developed a sensitivity to milk. I think it's weird, but her doctor said it's not unheard of. It doesn't really matter much to me that it's weird, I'm just glad she's better! Thanks to everyone who offered advice and made me and my girl feel better!

We use Advanced Dermatolgy in Allentown. They are great but it sounds like you might need a allergist to me. My daughter has both because she has allergies and ezezama. But if you think you found her senseitivity go with your gut if it cleared up thats prob what it is. Sometimes even when they have tested my daughter for things and it comes up neg the only way to make her feel better is cutting something out or changing something simple in her diet. She was allergic to milk and milk products but as she has grown she has tested neg for it now and can have it but it still makes her sick. I have found organic milk and and organic products don't bother her. Seems to be a reaction to the hormones and things they give to the animals that she has a problem with. So it might not be a bad idea to find an allergist or dermatoligst to get tested but someitmes good old mom instincts are best!!! Good luck and I hope this helped!

I'm sorry I don't know of any dermatologists, but my son had a heartbreaking diaper rash more than once. Ones that caused him to scream and cry, and that bled - is this what you are experiencing?

The pediatrician prescribed a medicated ointment for him, but it just kept him damp and didn't seem to help. What ended up working was cleaning him by squeezing out a warm washcoth on him and blotting it dry with the softest towel or blanket possible. (The water seemed to sting him, but it was a lot less abrasive than the wipes.) With the pouring of the watter and the blotting, there was really no friction or wiping to irritate him even more. Once he was dried off, I covered him front to back up to the hips with corn starch - really made sure absolutely every last bit of moisture was gone. I left him without pants as long as possible - espeically at nap time. It did lead to messy beds but the air on his skin for that length of time really made a difference within two or three days.

I wish you luck finding a doctor who can help!

Did you try frying up flour until it turns brown and using only this on her diaper rash everytime you change her diaper? This home remedy a friend gave me worked for my daughter when she was about 2 years old when nothing else worked. It won't be cured overnight but you should see results after a few days.

Hi - I don't have a dermatologist recommendation for you - just wanted to be sure you tried Lotrimin AF? My son had a terrible diaper rash that turned out to be a yeast infection, and Lotrimin helped tremendously when nothing else would.

I had a hard time finding a dermatologist too. My son had a rash on his arm for a year and he kept itching it open, so I finally got him into one. Her name is Pamela Meyer. She is at 501 N. 17th Street Suite 213 allentown Pa 18104. ###-###-####. I would call and see if she can help you.
Hopefully I helped.
