We Are Not Happy with Our Family Practitioner. Need Recommendations!!

Does anyone have a recommendation for a trusting and caring family practitioner? One that truly listens to your concerns, issues, questions, etc? We are fed up with the one we have who continually thwarts our concerns every time we visit. My husband has high blood pressure but has lost weight and is exercising. He has excellent cholesterol numbers, and his heart is very healthy. The doctor will not help him get off medication. Anyway, rather than blindly choose another practitioner, I thought I'd ask the community...Thanks!!!

What can I do next?

1960 framily practice it's on 1960 between 45 and red oak. ###-###-#### they have multiple doctors so if you don't like one you can change and still be in the same office. my husband is doing the same but he has high cholestoral and does not like the way the meds make him feel so we are working on his diet and the doctor has him coming in to see if it working. my husbands dr is Alex Nuygen but, there are others if you want to just call and make an appointment.

Dr. Ramon Solis is fabulous! He will work with you to get off of medications if that is the route you would like to take. He focuses on the underlying issues rather than covering up symptoms. The office is in Katy (I live off the beltway and West...it's worth the drive!) at the Katy Medical Arts Center. The office # is ###-###-####.

We have an outstanding group of physicians, specialists and chiropractors in our organization. All of our physicians are checked out thoroughly and inspected by our provider representatives before they can be signed on to our company. Visit www.ameriplanusaprovidersearch.com. This is the website I sent my potential members to visit when they want to purchase our affordable healthcare benefits. After you visit that website, I invite you to visit my website to look at the affordable dental and medical plans. We are NOT an insurance company. My website is www.everyonebenefits.com/stiger. If you'd like to call me, my number is ###-###-####.

Like Suzy A., our family goes to Dr.DeBroeck. He has a great staff and a wonderful Nurse Practitioner that my daughter really likes. His office is on Hwy 6 about 1/4 to 1/2 mile south of W.Little York. If you need more info. just let me know! God bless!

Not sure how far you want to drive, but over here in the Copperfield/Cypress area we have used Dr. J. DeBroeck, and Dr. D. Hoefer. They are both great. Even though we are "on the insurance plan" , they never hesitated to order the necessary tests to check something out. And they are willing to spend time with you. Not sure if they are taking new patients or not.

In what part of Houston do you live? I live in the Northwest/Cypress area, and I have two names for you in this area. The first is Paula Springer. Her office is on Spring-Cypress near Hwy. 290. (Phone ###-###-####). She has been our family doctor on and off (because of insurance issues only) for 14 years. We absolutely love her. She takes time with us and listens to us, even taking phone calls about concerns involving our grown children at no charge!

The next name is Mike or Tom Nguyen of St. Michael Medical Clinic on Cypress Point near Grant Road. (Phone ###-###-####). These are brothers with whom we've been associated for about 7 years. They specialize in family medicine and have been great with our elderly mothers, as well as our own health problems. They listen and consider what our desires are before recommending a course of action.

Either of these medical professionals won't disappoint you. My only criticism of Dr. Springer is the length of time you have to wait for her in the waiting room sometimes. But, think about it--she takes time with each patient, and sometimes that can take a while.

Hi J.-

We go to The Village Medical Center in The Woodlands and see Dr. Kahney and/or Dr. Yut. They are both great doctors.

Good Luck,
K.

I hear ya my doctor is the same way. I would like to hear some recommendations as well. I am on blood pressure meds as well and was in Chicago and forgot my meds. I called my doctor to ask if I could miss a day and he didn't even listen to me he just called in a prescription for one day. When I got home I asked my pharmacist and he said I would of been alright because my body stores enough of the meds in my system for 2-3 days. I was only gone for 1 day. I think my doctor is more worried about money then his patients.
