I remember another mom asking this question a very long time ago ( on Mamasource ) and I don't know how to find it from that long ago to refer back to it.

My husband& I are planning on taking a trip to the Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine,TX, our 7 yr old has been itching to go there. My question is ~ is it really worth the money?
What is the check in/check out times? Any tips for us?
We have hit all the water parks around here, like Splashtown, Volente Beach, Schitterbahn-- all quite a few times. Just wanted to try something new.
We're planning on going mid July ( if that matters ). Thanks for any input. :)

I just want to agree with Pam. I've taken my boys a couple of times, and we all loved it! It is expensive, but worth it. The water park is indoor and outdoor, and Magi Quest is tons of fun! I love downtown Grapevine, too. If you ever get a chance to visit downtown at Christmas, it's beautiful. You might also want to check out the Gaylord Texan. It's right across the street from Greatwolf Lodge, and there are a bunch of shops and restaurants inside. It's also pretty impressive to see. Have a great vacation!

I've taken my son and a friend of his twice. We love the place! The water park is great. The fact that it is indoors is wonderful, with no worry about sunscreen/sunburn. They also have a game set up for kids called Magi Quest, which is an additional cost, which my son and his friend love. I do feel the Lodge is very expensive, but we really have enjoyed our time there. The food for dinner is expensive. They do have a breakfast buffet package that costs about $7.00 per person prepaid--which was pretty good. To save money next time we will probably take some of our own food. What gets really expensive is if you stay in a room with a separate room for the kids ie: wolf den suite, kid's cabin suite. We've had a wolf den both times, which was nice because my son and his friend had their own area and own TV and so did I. I love the place, but I do wish it wasn't quite so expensive. You and your family will have a great time! Hope this helps.

I haven't been but my son has for birthdays and several friends have been. All say it's great ! Now they also have the outdoor water park in addition to the indoor one. The Magic Quest game is supposed to be alot of fun. Also to save money you can go outside the lodge for meals. There is a TON of restraunts - both fast food and sit down - right near there and then Grapevine Mills Mall has a really neat restraunt in it. Have fun !

We've been to GWL a few times, and my girls start asking a week or two after we get back, "Mom, when can we go back to Great Wolf Lodge?"

It is SO much fun, and though expensive, it's well worth the $$, especially if you get a discounted rate (i.e. weekday rates, and if you stay more than one night, you can use the code MOREFUN to get 10% off).

My 6 year old LOVES MagiQuest, though it's a bit of a whippin' for me and my husband, because unlike many parents there, we won't allow our child to roam the resort (to play the game) by herself.

The rooms all have their own fridge and microwave, so it's pretty easy to bring your own food and save a bit.

Admittedly, I don't know who likes it more - them or me.

If you have breakfast at the Loose Moose, ask for Lucy. We just spent a few days there last month, and she was our server for breakfast all three mornings. She was the best!!

My son has been to the Lodge and he raves about it. He went with a group of boys for a bday party. He would go back in a heartbeat. It is expensive, but I hear it's worth it. Enjoy!
