Washington State

If you could live anywhere in Washington (state), where would you live and why?

What can I do next?

Eastsound.. On Orcas Island. It's the most amazing place on earth! My husband is from Hawaii and there and we go just about every year. It's such a quaint island town with amazing people and amazing food. We'll actually be there next week! I could totally be a bum and live there and be probably happier than I am where we're at!

I'd live west of the mountain peaks so I would have rain to keep everything green and live next to a lake or a stream to enjoy the water if that was within the budget. I'd also look for a low tax area.

Interesting question. Thanks for the brain teaser. Good luck to you and yours.

I lived in Woodland. I loved it cause it was close to a big city, (Vancouver) and close to Portland, Or. But it felt like a small town. Loved the mild winters and the rain. and summers were wonderful, and you are close to the coast.

I grew up in west Seattle and love it there, and live in Edmonds now and love it too! I like the milder seasons, the water, mountains, and trees everywhere. I'd stick to no farther than 20 minutes from Seattle. My dream homes are in cap hill, Madison park, woodway, and on the eastside (sammamish, issaquah, etc).

Seattle, it is the only big city (next to London) I would actually be ok in. It has a really great feel about it.

I love Vancouver. It is just across the river from Portland, OR so you are close to an airport and all that Portland has to offer without having to live in Portland. I love that I can drive an hour east and be in the beautiful, green mountains with skiing, hiking, and waterfalls. I also love that I can drive an 1 1/2 hours west and be at the beautiful Pacific ocean. There are lots of opportunities for entertainment in town and the people who live here are such a mix of cultures, beliefs, and life-styles which makes an awesome, diverse blend of humanity. Summers and Winters are mild and Spring and Fall provide a lot of rain but that is what makes it beautiful and green here.

I'm from WA and have lived on both sides of the mountains. I prefer the East side (Spokane area) b/c I love having all 4 seasons :) And it's only a little over 4 hours to get to Seattle to visit the coast and the islands and the shops.
The winters do get a bit rough but it's totally worth it if you like to ski, snowmobile or anything else in the snow.
There are beautiful mountains and lakes everywhere you look which allows for a lot of outdoor activities (fishing, water-skiing, hiking, camping, etc.)

We lived in Bellevue (near Seattle) and I absolutely loved it there. It's an expensive area to live, though (we rented a really small two-bedroom apartment for a lot of money) but it is absolutely beautiful and has great neighborhoods and is mostly a safe area. If money wasn't an issue, I would love to live in downtown Bellevue across from the library and near the park (close enough to walk or take a bus to everything). Or I'd live in Kirkland; it is also a really beautiful area (the lake is really nice) but also pretty expensive.
