I am looking for a washing machine that isn't too expensive, that is non agitating and is reliable. Either front loading or top loading will work, but I would like some input on what you guys think is the best one to get. Thanks!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for all the great advice. We are still looking for the one we like, and will have to wait til we can save up for it, but for now we have another hand me down top loading agitator. Blech. Oh, well, such is life.

I personally love my front loader. The stink issue is because people dont let it air out when they take their last wash load out. I just leave my door open overnight then shut it when it's dry inside and never have any stink issues. It gets my clothes clean. The only thing is it's difficult to add in stuff if you found a stray item you want to throw in after it's started. (mine has a few minutes at the beginning you can pause the machine to add, but not as easy as throwing it in a top loader.)

I have a high efficienty top loader and love it. You'll pay more for the front loader just because it's a front loader. If you can hold off, wait until the weekend after Thanksgiving to buy. You find tons of sales and GREAT prices. Good luck.

Don't get LG frontloader. They stink and take forever to finish. Plus, you can't fill it over half full.
Sears had a kenmore that washed 3.3 baskets at a time.

Hello!
We were just forced to look into a new washing machine and I had really wanted to get a high-efficency washer. After geting more into it, I got a standard set up after all. The one I was looking at had 2.5 stars after 47 reviews on Viewpoints and others were not much better for the price range I was looking at. Noise was a frequent complaint. High-end may be a different story. I ended up buying a Maytag Centennial, top loading and with agitator. The Energystar cost amounts were almost the same as some of the high-efficiency ones I had looked at, incl. the water savings. This one does not have a load size setting, the machine determines how much water is needed based on the load contents. We had it for 3 weeks now and I really like it. Hope this helps!

I love my Samsung. They are middle of the road price wise. I personally would never get a front loader again, but that is just my opinion.
I do NOT recommend anything Kenmore. We had the Kenmore HE2 and it sucked. It broke 4 times in 6 months. I wasnt the only person I know that this happened to either.

I wouldn't get another front loader. :( We have the Maytag, and in addition to the smell, it doesn't agitate enough to get real dirt/stains out! I can't stand not being able to throw last minute items in that I find (generally in my daughter's room/bathroom) because the door locks. Ugh! I leave the door open as much as possible between loads, but what a pain. Good luck!
