It finally happened.... I didn't notice a sticker that was on my daughter's overalls. It went through the washer/dryer and now I'm wondering if there's ANYTHING that will help me get it off! I'm sure I'm not the first mommy to do this, and probably not the last ;) Any advice from other parents will be greatly appreciated!!! THANKS in advance!!

I've applied liquid laundry soap to the goo on the clothing and then rubbed it in until the gunk was gone. It worked for me.

Sovents like lighter fluid should work, but the fumes are toxic and you shouldn't get it on your skin. There's a wonderful cleaner called Citra-Solv that is completely safe and does a good job on grease stains, too. It even smells good and is economical; I've been using one bottle for years. Goo Gone will get it off. You can buy it at Target. Squirt it all over the sticker residue and wash like you normally do.

I have had success with a gel stain stick. I put the gel on very liberally - like a big glob sitting on top of the sticker - for at least 24 hours. Then wash. If it's the extra sticky kind, it takes 2-3 washings. Don't run it through the dryer, just pick off what you can with your fingernails after it finishes in the wash, then repeat the process.

Good luck,
S.

Did this myself not too long ago for the 1st time....use the orange smelling "Goo-Gone" in the spray bottle, to get the stickiness off, and then use pure plain old fashioned Blue Dawn Dishsoap to get the oiliness of the Goo-Gone out of the fabric, and then wash and dry again normally.

Worked wonders for me, and was reccommended by the mom of three kids older than mine!

I just use Goo Gone and it wipes right off. Then rinse really good and throw it back in the washer to get the Goo Gone smell out.

I washed and dried a piece of gum on a polartec coat and soaking it with Shout removed it. I use lighter fluid to remove glue from price stickers that is left on hard surfaces so perhaps you could also try soaking it in that and then washing thoroughly to get the smell off! Good luck.

Hi J.!

There is a product called 'goo gone'...I have found it at stores like lowes and home depot...it works! For fabric...I might try a spot test...but on any clothes I have tried over the years...it has worked!

Good luck!

If the Goo Gone doesn't work for you, Melaleuca makes a similar product called Solumel that gets EVERYTHING out. It took out permanent marker from our couch upholstery.

A lot of people suggested Goo Gone and that really works, but if you have WD-40 already in the house try that. Spray the spot, let sit for awhile, rub, put laundry soap on the spot and wash in hottest water recommended for the fabric. You might have to wash item a few times to get out the smell.

NOTE: This also works on getting out crayon that has gone thru the washer and dryer....

Good luck,
Renee
