Hi Ladies,
I am looking for a neat restaurant that my husband and I can go to for our anniversary. We are wanting to try something new, and with this festive time of year we were looking for something with kind of a cool atmosphere. We live in the Gresham area, but don't mind venturing downtown...we just don't get out much with our 2 little ones at home. So I have no idea what's new...or "hip" these days :-)!!
Any suggesstions would be awesome! Thanks

What can I do next?

Hi there, happy anniversary! Well I don't know if it is the "new hip" restaurant but we went to Portland City Grill on the top floor of US bank. You can sit by the window and there is an incredible view of the river and the lights. I think that at Costco they are selling 2 $50 gift certificates for $80. They are good for a few different restaurants and I think they say Stanfords in larger print but I believe PCG is another one you can use it at. Also I am not sure about this either but if you planned it right the Christmas boat parade might pass by the restaurant. You would have to google them and see their schedule. Hope you find something great and have a wonderful night out!

Have you been to the Melting Pot? It is downtown, underground. There is a stairway with a big sign on the corner (sorry, I can't recall the address) and then you go down below the street. It is very cool. An amazing and fun dinner experience. It is a little spendy, but it is worth it. Bring your appetite!!
Happy Anniversary!

Try Urban Fondue. It is a cute, quaint and romantic atmosphere...and AMAZING fondue and other dishes. It is just off NW 23rd. Call for reservations though!

i don't know if it's hip, per se, but portland city grill is really cool. it's on the 35th floor of the arco? building in downtown at 4th and burnside. the view is spectacular on a regular night. i'm sure this time of year is even better. the food is great. wine list awesome. and the waitstaff is really good too. our waiter we had has been with them for 28 years! tell them it's your anniversary and they decorate the table nicely.

happy anniversary, btw!!

If you like authentic Mexican food, I highly recommend La Calaca Comelona over on 22nd or so on Belmont. It's the blue building with all the Day of the Dead skeletons on it. The food is wonderful (I've never had a bad meal the many times I've gone), the decor is bright and colorful and the service is very good. It's one of our special restaurants for dates.

If you like Italian, Mamma Mia's downtown on second is excellent. Too. Great wine selection, and a nice assortment of entrees... we always enjoy our food there. Excellent service as well.

Happy anniversary!

Have you tried any of the McMennamins? They have Edgefield in Gresham and the Kennedy School in NE Portland. They have a couple different restaurants at each location, very unique and fun places to go.
