Wanting to Adopt a Kitten

I am new to Friso/Dallas area and was hoping someone would be able to tell me of an animal shelter or of any one who has kittens that need to be adpoted. I want to suprise my kids (all animal lovers) with a new pet!

What can I do next?

Hi D.,

I am so happy you have decided to adopt a kitten from a shelter. I used to volunteer with the Frisco Humane Society. You can start with them or go to Petsmart on Preston by the Target/Best Buy. They have cats and sometimes kittens there to adopt that are fostered by the local Pet Groups. Most, if not all, Petsmart stores do this. Also there is the SPCA of Texas in McKinney on 720/Main Street in Frisco.

Lots of luck to you.

D.,
There is the SPCA in McKinney off of Custer and 720. They always have a good amount of cats to adopt. As for kittens, its hit or miss, although I think this is the time for kittens.

Good Luck!

My neighbor has a cat that just had kittens. If you are interested I can walk over and check to make sure they still have some. The momma cat is very sweet and friendly. :)

You can look up pets by local shelter like, "Frisco" or "Plano", etc... All the local shelters list their pet so you can rescue a needy kitten! It is a fabulous resource.

There's an SPCA in McKinney on FM720 just east of Custer.

Hi D.,
The SPCA in McKinney usually has kittens to adopt. depending on where in Frisco you live, it's really close and easy to get there. Call directory assistance for the phone and address.

Good luck!

I would definitely check out dallas.craigslist.org, then the "pets" or "free" section. Found these there:

Hi,

I have three baby kittens that were abandoned and left homeless, right now I am guessing their ages to be about two weeks. There are two all black females and one orange tabby male. They are all super sweet and seem to be healthy...I just happened to have a female cat that I found as a stray about two months ago, she was pregnant when I found her and she has four, five week old babies so she has taken these new ones on and has been nursing them. Anyway, they are adorable. They will come with first set of shots and deworming plus flea free. I can also pay for their spay and neuter at the Dallas SPCA if the new owner would like.
E-mail me for pics or you may call me. E-mail is: ____@____.com .

Thanks,
Sara

(This one is a week old, so I don't know if there are any left)

Free kittens. Born February 24, 2006. Very gentle and love to cuddle. Three grey tabbies and two calicos. Great with kids.

Due to some interesting and yet disturbing responses, this add has been moved to "General for Sale" and the kittens are $10.00 each.

If you have any interest in using these kittens for snake food, etc. DO NOT RESPOND.

These kittens are precious to our family and my little girl's heart would be broken at the thought.
