Want to Start a Crunchy, Attachment Parenting, Natural Family Living Playgroup?

I am having a hard time finding other moms in the Keller/Southlake/Grapevine area who practice the same parenting methods that I do.
Is there anyone who is interested in/practicing attachment parenting, eco-friendly living, cosleeping, extended breastfeeding, child-led weaning and cloth diapering? As well as anything else I haven't thought of? ;-) I would love to have a weekly playgroup to go to, or host! (I am definitely ok with having people over to my place.) Noli and I are in desperate need of company, as well as a good reason to get out of the house!!!
I used to go to a potluck-style weekly meeting, but some of the moms moved away so it's kind of disbanded. It was great to see each other once a week and share food and friendship while our kids played.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

Hey guys! Thanks for all the responses!

Even if you're not "crunchy" you're welcome to join up. I love diversity! I won't give dirty looks for anyone who uses Huggies. ;-)

We should come up with a day, time, and place, and we can all meet each other! For those of you not in Keller- well, you can still come if you don't mind driving. Once we settle on a spot, we can email directions, phone numbers, and whatnot.

Since I'm a SAHM I'm free pretty much all day every day until about 4pm, when my fiance heads home and we have dinner, family time, etc.

I'm not sure exactly how this mamasource thing works- I guess we can just keep responding to this request? Or are we supposed to message individually now? (But then it'd be harder to organize group things...)

Hi S.,
I just got this message so I am a little behind. I would love to get together with you guys when you decide on a place and time. We have been co sleeping from the begining & I can't tell you how many people thought we were crazy. We are trying to be more green & eco friendly so I would love to talk with you about that if you have any tips. I also wanted to start cd, but didn't really know how to go about it. Well hopefully we can get together. Just let me know. Thank You

I would love to meet up too! We're semi-crunchy lol...we practice cosleeping, extended breastfeeding, child-led weaning, etc. We live in Watauga, so we're just a few minutes from Keller.

Have you tried attending local La Leche League meetings? You can find a local group on the www.lalecheleague.org website. You're very likely to meet some like minded mothers there. The whole point of La Leche League is mothers teaching mothers, so you'll be able to share your mothering experiences with less experienced mothers and see how the more experienced moms deal with things that you'll soon be dealing with.

I followed the same model you mention when my kids were young (and of course we still eat organic and follow environmentally friendly practices in our family). I do agree that the parenting model you follow is ideal in meeting the needs of the child and will really help establish an excellent foundation for the pre-teen and teen years. It's really a matter of investing in your child now and getting definite payback latter.

I'm in Keller also and do the crunchy style living!!!! Would love to meet you and other mama's of the same like minded ways.....

I live in Keller, and we're always up for meeting new people. We don't have exactly the same parenting practices, but we still would love to meet you. I will say the breastfeeding thing was the biggest for me. I absolutely LOVED it, and I wanted to continue for as long as I could. Well, on his birthday, my little angel decided he was through with it and just weaned himself completely. I was given no warning, and it was very difficult. He's 15 months now. Message me if you're the least bit interested. I understand, though, if you're not because of the different interests. I will say that we (husband and I) are not judgemental of any parenting styles because we believe that you know what your child needs better than anyone else. I'm sure you've probably run into a lot of people who are, so I want to reassure you on that.

I would love to join, but can only do so on weekends since I do have to work during the week. My nearly 9 month old is BF, CD, sling riding, co-sleeping, and will continue to be all those things. I know traditional playgrouops meet during "work hours," but if you would like to add some weekend time to the zoo, park, or even at someone's house, I'd really like to meet other moms who do think I'm nuts.
