Wannabe Mom Looking for Good OB GYN or Nurse Midwife

Me and my husband will be tying to conceive our first child this summer. I would like to get in and have a pre-conception appointment with a good CNM or OB GYN. I would love to have a natural delivery and would want someone who can support that and a location that allows water births. Does anyone have any suggestions for the Des Plaines area...I would drive up to 45min for someone wonderful!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

West Suburban Midwives are who I am going to see for a pre-conception appointment.

I would rec. Dr. Kerry Swenson. She was my OB when I was PG with DD. She was wonderful! Since I had DD, she switched practices and she is now w/Evanston NW healthcare. Her office is in Skokie, I believe on Wood St. Just google Evantson NW healthcare and she is listed on the web site.

I am a nurse and work for a group of women Ob/Gyne's in Skokie who deliver out of Evanston Hospital. I just had my first baby and, of course, saw the doctors in my office - all of them are fantastic and supportive. Dr. Pearlman and Dr. Marx are very willing to let labor progress as nature intended. Evanston is a state-of-the-art hospital with a very small-town feel . I had a wonderful experience there - all the nurses were fantastic and loving. The office phone # is ###-###-#### and we are open Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm.
Good luck!

I can't recommend the midwives at West Suburban Midwife Associates highly enough! They're in Oak Park - not sure if that's too far or not - and they're fabulous. They deliver out of the Alternative Birthing Center at West Sub. Hospital. IMHO it's worth it to find a great CNM - don't mess with the OB/GYNs unless you're high-risk.

I also recommend West Suburban Midwives in Oak Park. great practice. I delivered at West SUburban and had a water birth. Fabulous experience. You should watch Ricki Lake's new documentary, "the business of being Born." It was great and had some really interesting info about midwives and hospital births.

Dr. Michele Perlis is fantastic. She is a down to earth and great at her job. Her practice is called Woman to Woman (all women doctors) in Crystal Lake, IL ###-###-####). I highly recommend her!!

Hi!
I hightly recommend Dr. Abbie Roth. She is with Northwestern Hospitals in downtown Chicago. Me and 3 of my girlfriends who have all had babies in the last year had her as our dr. She is amazing! Plus everyone in the practice was great if she was in delivery. They also just re-built Prentice Women's hospital. It is a state of the art facility. Number: ###-###-####

Hello there:

I have a beatiful three year daughter and I see a great ob-gyn in skokie her name is Helen Plavnik, her number is ###-###-####. She is out of Lutheran General in Park Ridge right by Des Plaines. If you have ever been to Old Orchard Mall, I'm sure you have. Her office is on Lawler in that green professional building where Citibank is right across the parking lot from Old Orchard Mall. Congrats on your decision and good-luck :)
