Walk Fit Shoe Inserts--pros and Cons
I have very flat feet and was recently looking into the Walk fit shoe inserts (the ones that have the infomercials on TV) and was wondering if anyone else has a pair and what they think about them. The reason I was looking at these is that my feet have started hurting constantly. I cannot get out of bed in the morning without pain in my feet. I have not sprained my ankle, the pain is actually in my heel--but only in one foot. If I have been standing for too long my feet also start to ache because of my flat foot issue. Any help about these inserts would be appreciated.
So What Happened?™
Thank you all for your responses to my questions. I decided that I would try new shoes first that would support my feet better because I realized that the pain started when I started exercising more frequently. That has helped a lot, but I am going to check out the insoles that they have at Walmart (as per some of the posts) to see if I can find something that will help when I am not exercising too. Thanks a million for the advice and support---it is good to know that I am not the only one out there suffering from this ailment.

I don't know about those specific ones but I also have flat feet and my podiatrist made a digital scan of my feet and had some custom orthotics made for me at a lab. I LOVE them!!! My feet feel SO much better. The down side was that they cost me $300. Well come to find out Costco does the exact same thing for $80! They do a digital scan and even the same LAB makes them!!! I was mad to find out I wasted that money! Oh well they make a world of difference to how my feet feel. I love them. But I would have gone to Costco had I known.

My mother in law had the same problem. She went to a store called "Good Feet" where they have orthopedic shoes and they specially fit you to solve your specific feet problems. She has been able to walk without pain since she went there. Some of the shoes are funny looking though! : )

I agree with Jennifer, and I know the Good Feet store helped my mom tremendously with it. As far as the flat feet goes, my husband has impressively flat feet. Two doctors have recommended surgery for him. We're just trying to get it scheduled for when we've met our deductible and he has the recovery time. He had a lot of other help to get to this point. You might look at seeing a orthopedic doctor. We've been pleased with what they've done for my husband. Unfortunately, his case is just too severe. GL!

I've used the arch support inserts for 20 years--custom made from doctor's office and Dr. Scholls.
I was wary. I only bought one insert. Now I wish I'd bought 2 sets. The first 2 days, my toe felt kinda weird, but after that I NEVER had had Knee or foot pain again.
The only thing is....if I go barefoot for a few days, it feels weird for the 2 days again.
It really was better than any of the arch support inserts I've ever had.
Check it out - I hope it works well for you :)

Okay so my husband and I both got these shoe inserts. He does not have flat feet and he loved them and still uses them. I however do have flat feet and tried them and it hurt my arch. I was hoping to be able to wear a smaller size shoe (I have big feet) if I wore them but they hurt too much. So I don't wear them. THe most I have worn them is about a couple of hrs on the lowest setting... I just had to take them out. So that is my own personal experience. I really wanted them to work... You could have mine if you are a size 12 womens....

I don't know anything about the walk fit inserts, but I do know that nothing helped me until I went to a podiatrist. He made molds of my feet and made orthotics for me. My feet are extremely flat and these helped me a lot. The only thing is they are expensive unless your insurance pays for them. It sounds like you might have a problem with your heel that is not related to your flat feet. I think you need to see a podiatrist.

My husband had the same thing a couple of years ago. He went to a podiatrist, was given some exercises to do and a shoe insert. Now we just buy the insert at Wal Mart. I can't remember what the name of it is. I believe it is Dr. Schol's. It has really worked and he currently doesn't have the problem.

Being marginally flat footed myself I can say that your best option would probably be to go buy some Dr. Scholls arch support insoles. The pain in your heel is more than likely your Plantar Fascia tendon getting stretched or irritated from your standing.
I work outside, walking around on ground that varies from hard & dry to wet, sloppy & slick. My arched & heels started aching and being painful about a year ago. I bought the arch supports and combine them with a gel insert and the only time I have problems with foot pain is when I forget to swap the inserts. I would really suggest you try that route, instead of spending a lot on money on infomercial stuff (that's usually unfounded, unproved and flat out a waste of time & money) before you look for anything else.
Also, try rolling a tennis ball under your sore foot for a minute a day for a couple of days and see if that help the pain. But, really, you just need arch support, especially if you are standing a lot now where you didn't have to before.
Good Luck and I hope it gets better.
