Waking Too Early? - Frisco,TX
I know I should just consider myself lucky and deal with it, but I value your opinions! My 7 1/2 month old, is teething, and has been waking some mornings at 5:30am. Is this too early? He goes to sleep between 6 and 6:30pm and sleeps through the night. He has always gone to bed at this time and used to sleep until 7 or 7:30am! He is getting sufficient naps, two 1-2 hour naps a day. I don't want to push his bedtime later because he is ready to go down at 6 and he goes down easily. Also, I follow Dr. Weissbluth's "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Baby" book and it has helped tremendously! I guess I probably just need to bite the bullet and deal with the early morning wake up, huh?

I agree that you should just deal with it for now. Why upset his schedule when he is sleeping so well. It won't last forever. Babies are constatly changing. My almost 2 year old wakes between 6 and 6:15 every morning and I'm hoping he will feel the need to sleep later in the very near future!

Great book...stick with it. This is probably just temporary so try to be patient and then she'll start sleeping back to normal. I know this is a little early but by the time she is 12-18 months you might like this... http://www.goodnitelite.com/index.php - we use it for our 2 and 3 year old and it is GREAT! Never to early to start "training" and talking about bedtime and morning time.

Babywise is another good book. They also have childwise when kids are older. My middle child is an early riser. I have tried everything from giving her melatonin to putting her in a completely dark room (helped a little). My daughter now gets up at 7:00a.m.. - I just tell her to play quietly and stay in her room. She is now 7. I would set limits so he doens't roam the house when he is older. Let him know mommy needs her rest too! Having a blackout shade or dark curtains in his room may help some. Good luck - Angie

Unfortunately, some kids are just early risers. Both of my kids got up that early. They are now sleeping in until 6:30am...Yipee! :) I know...still early. I used to see if making them go to bed later would help them sleep in. I found out that they still got up early...only cranky too! So...I guess bite the bullet like you said. Wish I had something else to say.
