Waking My Baby to Breastfeed
I have been back to work for 2 months now, but will be changing my shift from 2nd shift to 1st. This means that I have to leave for work at 6:30am. If I want to feed my son before I leave for work I will have to wake him up at 5:45am. He usually doesn't get up until 6:30 or 7am. Should I wake him or just pump and let my husband feed him when he gets up? The other reason I would like to wake him is b/c that is the only time I'll see him on Sat. and Sun. when I work. I don't get home from work until after he is in bed. Also, if I do feed him, do I put him back to bed afterwards? Thanks for the advice.

I leave for work at 6am so I would have to wake up my son at 5:30. I chose not to do this my boyfriend gets up when my son is ready to get up. He feeds him plays with him and takes him to daycare. He loves it it give him some time to bond with his son and it also is good for the baby to have that same closeness to his father. I do get to see him later in the day, but their are days when I work late and don't get to see him that day its kind of sad not to see him so I do understand why you would like to wake him up. If you do wake him I would deffinatly put him back to bed if possable.

I would say if you want that time then wake her up. If it really is not working for her or you. Then pump and her daddy feed her. Congrats and good luck

Most of the time I woke my daughter to feed her before work and she fell right back to sleep. If I was super tired, I'd pump and then let my husband feed her.

It's grueling, but I woke my son up to nurse before work every day and put him back to bed until daddy got him up for daycare. It will keep your supply going longer.

I would get him up, feed him, then put him back to bed. He will probably sleep a little longer than normal, since he will be full. Then I would pump during the day and feed him as soon as you get home. Good for you (and him) for breastfeeding!
