Wahms What Do You Do?

So, if you work from your home (except for doing daycare) what do you do? My ideal is to do something very part time. But, in time, I may want to have something to replace my current income. I posted something earlier but have gotten no responses. So, maybe that line of work really doesn't exsist. May be they are all scams (surveys for $). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. :)

Hi
This thread has been going on for a while, but I wanted to share what I have found to do along side my family's schedule. I used to be a teacher before I became a mom. I was looking for something that I could do from home and really believe in. I found that with Usborne Books. This company has a such a great passion for literacy and children learning. I am able to work as little or as much as I want, as the company requires no monthy minimums. My family has gained such a wonderful at home library through all of these wonderful books. I have been able to provide extra income for my family and feel really good about bringing these wonderful books into the lives of children. If you would like more information, please visit my website and click on income opportunities or email me at ____@____.com
I hope you find everything that you are looking for. Good Luck!

I do masage therapy. Granted I was doing it before I had my daughter so the experience is key in my case and if I had to get schooling now with a child it would be a bit more challenging as I would need to depend on daycare but I love what I do and control my hours to some extent.

I'm one of those moms who makes Mei Tai baby carriers! I just took over the business from a friend last year but I'm loving it! I love to sew, and turning that into a business was a great idea. I also sell Avon which is nice extra cash for fabric, shoes, WAHM-made diaper bags :)

Hi K.,
What a privilege it is to stay at home with your little ones! I was a teacher until our 3rd (out of 4) was born. I always wanted to be a teacher but never expected how I would feel about it once I became a mother. Then, I wanted desperately to get home full time. Unfortunately, there was no possible way to make it on my husband's income alone. We began months and months of research on possible ways to bring in income from home. It was deeply frustrating. MANY scams. Many companies that weren't scams but no one really earned anything. (I'd hear them say "I just do this to get my stuff cheaper.") By the time we heard about the company that I've been working with, we were so skeptical we nearly rolled our eyes when it was suggested that we check into it.

That was 13 years ago and thankfully I DID check into it. I've been a SAHM now for 13 years. It continued to grow so well that my husband has been able to quit his job as well. We are both home full-time and earning far more than we did when teaching. I love this company. It is a joy for me to tell others about it so they can do what I've done. Since this is not the appropriate place to talk about this company, I will give you a way to contact me. Go to my website: www.wellnessmakeover.net. Look it over and then click on "contact me". I will be happy to give you a call. Another option is to click on my name on the Mammasource site and send me a personal email.

You really can earn income from home but it is quite difficult to find the right way to do it. If you decide my company is not the best option for you, I can give you some pointers on what to look for and what to avoid.

I truly hope you find exactly what is best for you!!!
-K.

Hi K.!

I'm a WAHM that does two jobs (both out of my home!) One takes me out for about 2-3 hours, 2-3 days a week -- it's a blast to do, and I get adult interaction while I'm out. I demo Ladies Lingerie in Private home parties. I've been doing it off and on for about 10 years now, and I wouldn't trade it for the world. I get paid every night I do a party, and there's bonuses and incentives for monthly contests as well.

I know ladies in this business who've replaced their outside jobs with just this, and are sustaining their entire family on just this. Some are making well over $20,000 - $200,000 a year (I'm right around $15,000 because I don't push this one very hard -- it's just a "for fun for me" thing.)

I also do transcription. That one's a REALLY easy job! (but it's tough to get into if you don't have the proper professional training) I just wait for my employer to send me the contracts that need typed out -- spend a few hours a day doing those, then send them back electronically. No faxing, no mailing, no leaving the house! Just type and transfer -- done. Checks come bi-weekly from the employer, and that's the only time I have to leave the house for that -- to go to the bank (but we're working on direct deposit, so that will be a thing of the past too!)

Both jobs, I work around my family's schedule, and it's working out very well!

One drawback for me, however, is getting my husband to understand that I don't have a regular "9 to 5, Monday - Friday" work schedule. I work when I get parties, and I work when I get transcription documents. That's the rough part -- someone is always feeling "left out".

I have the pleasure of working when I want to compliments of Tupperware. I really love what I do and with 4 kids I needed something that didn't need a lot of my attention and time like the kids do. I would really love to talk to you more about it if it is something that you would be interested in! I do not even expect my recruits to buy the kit - I can tell you about that if you are interested as well!

P. S I loved it when you said that you are mom to 2 wife to 1!

I have been a SAHM for a year and a half. It wasn't enough so I started doing part time daycare for a friend. This still wasn't enough. Now I've got the best job ever.

I an a Homestyle Specialist for AtHome America. It is a direct sales company which allows me to put my family first. I do about 4 shows a month sometimes more, sometimes less. I choose when I want to work. What is even better is that you can start for FREE! Yes that is correct. FREE. What do you have to lose. Check out my website and the products at www.athome.com/wendyfors. If you want more information email me at ____@____.com. I love what I do and I think you would too. I sell AtHome America Products. I can pick my hours around other family activities. I just started 2 months ago and have earned over $1000 in commission and over $1500 in homewares. I have only hosted 6 parties, but could host more. Plus I am on my way to earning a laptop and a free trip to Chicago this fall. They make rewards easy to attain and the best part of all, I got to start my business for FREE.

The other neat thing is that they are quality products and they have great rewards for hostesses to earn FREE and discounted products. So it is win/win situation all the way around. Win for you in earning money, Win for your family that you are available. If you want to discuss this, see my ad in the business section--just to explore.

At least I know it works and isn't a scam.

I did have a friend you did do secret shopper, but it is more on their time and I am not certain about the money.

To the both of you who gave your websites, it seems to me that they're filled with info but none of it helpful as to what this great "job" is.

Good luck to you K. P. I am also a SAHM and would love to work from the home, but am wary of jobs that seem too good to be true. It usually is.

Hi there K.,

Are you still looking for work to do from home? I know you have a lot of posts here and I don't want to overwhelm you. It's so hard to find the right at home business. There are many scams out there. I looked for over three years before finding the right company. Now that I have, it's amazing! I'd be happy to share the information with you. I'm not a pushy sales person (that makes me crazy!). No pressure or anything. Just let me know if you are interested or just curious. :) Please remember that no matter what opportunity you do take advantage of, please do a lot of research. There are many scams out there!

Best of luck!

Surveys don't make money, I do them and you only get paid pennies and you don't always qualify. They are fun to do but not for an income. I do several jobs. My main one is i'm a daycare provider out of my house. I also sell Tastefully Simple and I work at the local bowling/entertainment center.

Hey K.!

I'm a WOHM, but parent very similarly to you... I just don't knit! I know a lot of WAHMs make & sell cloth diapers, make & sell carriers (mei tais, ring slings, etc.)... maybe you could use your knitting & sewing skills to make a few bucks? Lots of WAHM use hyenacart.com to sell their stuff or sell on etsy.com. You can do pretty well for yourself knitting longies & wool covers, sewing diapers, etc.

Good luck, and keep us posted if you do start a business! It's always nice to support a local mama!

Hi K.-

I don't know if you have already found something to do from home, but I wanted to let you know that I was in the same position in December. I wanted to be home with my daughter in the worst way but needed to replace my income. The only way I knew how to do that was with a stay at home business. I did a ton of research and would be more than willing to share it with you and found a company that was a natural fit and I am proud to say that after 5 months I am home with my daughter and it is wonderful. If you want to see my research or talk about my business you can email me at ____@____.com.
