Volunteer Groups
I am looking to use some of my time with my daughter while she is still young to volunteer.
I need ideas on what groups would be good for both of us to attend and perhaps only 1 day a week or a couple times a month.
She is almost 3 and I will be approaching a milestone ....I appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks.
We do live in the southwest suburbs and would like to stay close.

I organize for a community service based group. Our goal is to create opprtunities for families to volunteer together. We are mostly near the city and north, but so have quite a few people in the south, and members can always host events themselves. Here is the link if you wanted to check it out:

You can do Big Brothers Big Sisters....and take your child with you on outings. I was a volunteer for about 4 years...its rewarding and even though I'm not an active volunteer at this time I stay in touch with the 2 little sisters I had during the 4 years. You only have to commit to 4 hours a month.

Check with a local animal shelter/rescue. They are always looking for someone to walk dogs and give them some one on one attention that they sadly lack..

My daughter volunteered at our local nursing home. She helped with the activities department..........whenever she could. They love to see young people and visit. It's very rewarding..........

You can check out the United Way site. You can do a search for your area and what you are looking for. I have found a few things to do with my boys through them.
