Vitamins, Dark Circles Under Eyes, 6-Month-old

My six-month-old sometimes has dark circles/shadows under her eyes. Sometimes they are bluish, today kind of purple/reddish. She's breastfed exclusively and has been on rice (with iron) cereal for about two weeks. We plan to start her on veggies this weekend. I asked her ped about the circles at her 4-month well baby appointment and he said it was more noticable because of her super fair skin. I was (and still am) worried it might be a lack of vitamins/nutrients she isn't receiving from the breastmilk. My books say that breastfed babies need vitamin d (my ped disagrees because of our sunny weather) but nothing else about other supplements. My ped did say that he would suggest poly-vi-sol after she reaches six-months. My question(s): Have any of your babies had dark circles and if yes, was there a significant reason why and remedy? Also, does anyone give their kids the poly-vi-sol drops and if yes, where do you buy it? I've seen it but only fruit flavored and I'm not interested in supplementing her with artifical flavoring quite yet. Thanks!

What can I do next?

In my experience, it's either iron (and not iron absorb the same way) or it's adrenal, usually from the mother. My third baby had the same thing, but months after I started taking adrenal support, they have diminished significantly. I wasn't supporting my adrenal glands enough when I was pregnant with her.

genetics...thin skin around eyes show blood vessels more...allergies maybe. Never did the vitamins for same reason you say. If your diet is good she is getting what she needs. You could try another multivit from a more organic source and just see if it changes anything for your own peace of mind. Also you can ask a skin care specialist or dermatologist for their ideas about what cause dark circles.

Trust me; your breast milk has everything your baby needs right now. Pale skin does accentuate dark circles; but it has been my experience that dark circles can be a sign of allergies/sinus issues. Just keep an eye out allergies in the future. And rest assured that your milk is all your baby needs

Hi there.
I don't know if this will help, but my son had dark circles under his eyes starting at a very young age and I was told that it was from alergies. I took him to see a ENT doctor and he told us that it is common among children with pollen allergies.
Hope it helps.
