Vitamin for Nails??
Does anyone know which vitamin I should take to strengthen my finger nails? They've become weak and brittle and it's driving me nuts.

Hi Tammy!
I take Biotin 1000mcg every day. I have psorias and have pitts in my nails and let me tell you it has helped and they are actully growing again. I used to have beautiful nails and now they are beautiful again!
You can buy it at Walmart - the Rexall brand is only $4.99 for 120 pills....
Good luck!

Yep, E and gelatin. If you like Jello, eating some of that every day will really improve your nails! My nails are paper thin and have always been, I get that from my mom. I started eating sugar free Jello every day and I couldn't believe the difference. So having it in a capsule would be great too!

Hi T.,
The standard answer to that would be calcium and a B complex vitamin. Neither of these will work well, however, if you are not in good general health. A good, ABSORBABLE, multi-vitamin should be taken. (Before you buy, ask a knowledgeable professional, sometimes it's just a clerk at the health food store, what type of delivery system the vitamin has. If your nails are brittle, you stomach may not be absorbing the nutrients you are eating. That can mean the difference of working or not.)
Hope this helps!

T.,
Take a multi-purpose vitamin. I have discovered that what is really missing is calcium and Vit D. Calcium seems to make the nails stronger and Vit D seems to increase the speed of growth. During pregnancy many women do take their vitamins as recommended by their physicians; then stop after the birth of their child. Pregnancy takes toll on the adult body of its nutrients and it shows in the nail growth. After resuming your multi-vitamin and adding calcium and Vitamin D, you should see the difference within 7-10 days.
I hope I have helped you.

I think both vitamin E and gelatin capsules should help your nails!
