VIOLENT Dreams..

A couple of nights now I dreamt of (stupid things) a snake in my son's path, or a huge big spider up overhead with a nasty looking cobweb... I would literally throw myself off the bed and before I know it I am on the floor in the far corner of our room. Hubby woke up the first time with "What the?" and laughed.. the second time, he slept through this, but my leg had such a bad cramp and I think I must have dislocated my pinky finger from trying to get out from under that web!!!

This has happened before - dreamt of a spider crawling on the bed - jumped out switched on the light... "SPIDER!!"(a year or so ago)

I know its my sub conscious trying to tell me something, or I am having some kind of anxiety over keeping my child out of harms' way.. IDK.. Sleep Apnea? Or is this normal?

Thank goodness I don't sleepwalk or hit and kick in my sleep.. I watched a documentary once about sleep disorders.. it was funny but scary at the same time LOL!

Have you ever had this kind of dream, where everything is so vivid, you actually act on it, or wake up crying?

What can I do next?

I have woke up crying before because I had a dream that my husband was shot at a gas station. There was a man in the corner on the wall waiting on a ledge and as my husband was walking out, he shot him and I was unable to speak and tell him to get out of the way and I just watched. It was weird and I couldn't stop crying even when I woke up I was still crying and crying. My husband was woken up from my crying and just hugged me and said everything was okay.

My Mom has actually slapped my Father in a dream because she said she was dreaming that she was in the kitchen and as she opened the cabinet doors, these big fat rats were jumping out and climbing on her and she was hitting them and kicking the rats but my dad was the one getting the beating...LOL!

I wouldn't say this is apnea. I would say this is not going to bed when tired issue. OR it's an issue within some sleep disorders that has hallucinations upon waking.

Check this out. http://www.sleepfoundation.org/article/sleep-related-prob...

For what it's worth, I've gone through sleep studies and was diagnosed as Idiopathic Hypersomnia.

My husband has apnea. My mother is an insomniac. My ex has night terrors and as a kid did the sleep walking. My daughter sleep walks. My aunt has RLS [and I suspect hypersomnia as well]. So far, in my home, the ONLY one that has normal sleep patterns without any issues is my son.

Check what you're eating before bed... my nightmare triggers are stress, peanuts, chocolate, and pepperoni (of all things)... I have very lucid, vivid dreams often, because I've taught myself to remember them. Here are some things that help: Keep a journal of your dreams, good or bad, and even if you remember something later in the day, write it down. It helps cleanse your mind. Also, place a glass bowl of water next to your bed (seriously!); this helps :)

have you ever looked up a dream dictionary to see what the symbols means? You can google it find one. They are very interesting!
I have had very scary dreams lately too but I have also just had a tragedy. So I am sure mine account for that. But your real life triggers your dreams. If you are feeling overwhelmed or distraught in real life your dreams will reflect that or they can help you to deal with it.
Look it at least to help you feel better.
Good Luck and GOD BLESS!!

I have had these from time to time, but it's been a while, thank goodness! Are you on any medication by any chance? I know that sometimes night mares can be a side effect of prescription drugs. If not, then yes, it's probably stress related. I hope you get it figured out and get some sleep! You can always see a psychic to interpret your dreams! ;)

Deam one: The snake...The snake in your son's path, it could mean a hidden danger, something he's moving towards that you are worried about. The snake is also a male sexual symbol, are you worried about your son's sexual identity as he's becoming mature? Do you have an ex husband who has contact with your son, are you worried about being re-attracted to your ex?
Dream two: The spider on the bed..The spider is a female sybmol, did anything, happened a year ago, something female related, perhaps a female co-worker your husband was friendly with and you worried about unfaithfulness? Nothing may have actually happened since the dream went way.
Dream Three: The spider and web...Once again the spider is a possible strong female symbol, the web can also be a symbol of feeling trapped. Is there an over powering or strong woman in your life, mother in law, your own mother? If your son is involved, is there a new female caregiver over your son? Does your husband have an ex-wife who's trouble? Do you have a ex- husband you share custody with , does he have a new girl-friend? I don't know your life so I'm just throwing things out there.

That's all symbolic, it may or may not have anything to do with your life. You could just be freaked out by spiders and snakes and your brain is being a nasty brat. LOL!

I've had periods where I've woke up crying from dreams. Or been so angry at some random person that I couldn't shake the feeling all day long. Someone mentioned prescription drugs, these can really alter your dreams. Or perhaps you're right in that you're feeling really scared for your son in some way. Do they all involve harm to your son? How old is he? If they all involve protecting him, perhaps having a conversation with him (if old enough) is a place to start. Just say you've had some anxiety over his well being and want to check in.

I have awakened crying from dreams before. I also woke up holding my breath about ready to pass out when I was dreaming I was drowning. I once had a dream I was camping and I was sleeping outside in a sleeping bag. In the dream I woke up and the top of the sleeping bag was covered with what seemed like one of every kind of spider imaginable. I slept the rest of the night with the lights on and for weeks would wake up and turn on the lights to do a "spider check." I have always had an intense fear of spiders, and this dream had only worsened it. My oldest son used to wake up walking and talking. He once climbed up on a tall ledge between the dining room half wall and the staircase to the basement below. We had to sneak up quietly so as not to stir him so we could grab him off there. He has also gotten up and started to get ready for school or go out the front door in the middle of the night. The funniest was when he got up, turned on the lights and insisted that his brother go in a time out. We actually put a motion sensor on his door for a few years until he outgrew all this. Sleep and dreams can be sooooo weird!

I have a book on dreams and if you dream about a spider and a web it says: Encouragement is predicted by a dream of seeing a spider in his web, for it is an omen that through industry and skill you will achieve the end for which you have been working. As far as the snake it has to be a specific snake i.e., rattlesnake...which says it's a warning against people whom you do not trust. You may want to look up the difference between a dream and a nightmare. Hope this helps...
