Verizon Phone Recommendation?

It's time for my husband and I to replace our phones, mine is ancient! So I looked at what Verizon has and it's all so overwhelming even with help from someone at the store. The only feature I think it would be nice to have is a calendar to add appointments to. I really could care less about internet, etc. Any recommendations?
Thanks!
K.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

Thanks moms! I decided on a simple motorola flip phone because I liked the buttons and that it was purple! I figure it's just as easy to throw a pocket calendar in my purse.

I love my Verizon Centro smart phone. I had a palm pilot PDA and a seperate phone before. It made it easy. I could just transfer everything right over schedule, files etc. I own my own business (Suspended in Time of Santa Rosa which advetises on this site) and it helps me keep track of everything I need to do. It is the main phone for my business and it has everthing on it. I can talk to a client and schedule an appointment, look at a price list or anything. It is like carrying my office with me. The only thing I don't have is the internet. (which they offer, but I just haven't signed up for) I don't know if it is something that you would need, but I love mine.

Hi K.,

I was also looking for a phone with a decent calendar to keep track of every schedule at hand. I was looking into the Centro but I learned that if you send a pix message or someone sends you a pix message then it will cost you. If you wanted to pay the unlimited DATA usage then it's an additional $15. I was trying to cut costs so I ended up with the LG Voyager. The front face is touch screen then when you flip it open it has a full QWERTY keyboard. The calendar is decent. What I found out is if you have a gmail account, you can use their calendar and have events text to your cell phone. That's what I have been doing. Hope this helps. Good luck in your search!

Hi K.,
I have the Palm Centro which I really like for my calendar use. And on this one you have the option to get the data package or not (unlike if you purchase a Blackberry). It has a touch screen which can be fun...

Good luck with your decision.

I've used Verizon for years and love it. I don't use all the features - not even the calender! I am very satified with their connection. I like the fact that when you talk with other Verizon customers, it is free. Same with after 9:00 pm and on weekends/holidays but to whoever you are calling in the U.S. Another benefit of being with Verizon is that every 2 years, you get $100 credit towards a new phone. I then get the best phone that the credit will cover. My husband and I have a family plan. We even have my mother-in-law in it, too!

The phone I currently have is by LG. Everyone at Verizon recommended it. It is a more updated version of my last phone which was also LG. It takes 30 seconds of video and has 1.3 mega pixels for pics. There is no antenne anymore. It has a calendar, a calculator, ability to connect with a Bluetooth (which I use), and you can connect to the internet (with an additional service. I don't pay for this service. I don't think it is neccessary.) You can also get games (which you need to pay for, but I suggest checking out the games on-line first. You pay by play or purchase the rights to play as much as you want which is a better deal if ou like the game. A few games you do have to pay minutes so I again suggest checking them out prior to putting them on your phone.) I did have a slight problem with this phone which I didn't with the prior LG phone. The hinges of the flip phone was breaking. Even though the return/exchange policy was 30 days and the problem occurred 4 months later, Verizon replaced the phone for free with no questions asked. Since I've had my current phone for 1 year, I'm sure that LG has fixed the problem with the phone and have upgraded their camera and video other tools. If you know someone who uses Verizon, give Verizon their phone number. Your friend will get a $20 credit toward their account. Or you can send me an e-mail and I will provide you my phone number for the credit! : )

Hi K., I have had Verizon for 10 yrs and have found that the reception is far better than any of the other carriers. I had them block the internet and download capabilities so that it wouldn't be a problem in the future with a teenager. I do use texting alot as it seems to be the way most people communicate these days sadly. If it is more than a couple short messages they call me. If all you need is a simple phone then just get a simple one. Most have the calendar feature and Bluetooth capabilites.

I don't have a recommendation, but find the speaker phone option extremely helpful with kids and while driving.not all phones have that option. Good luck!

I have the verizon chocolate. It does way more than I need it to do, but even their basic models have an appointment calendar on them. I'd get the one that fits your hand, works as a phone, and is bluetooth compatible so you can use it in your car. (BTW, Plantronics makes the best bluetooth headsets out there. They're pricey, but worth it.) If you're gonna stick with Verizon for a while, find the best deal. A lot of times they'll just give you a lower-tech model for free with your new contract.

Oh your son is doing great! One idea is to put less food on his plate to reduce the mess and add more as needed, but the most important part is that he is a good eater and trying to use a fork. There is something called a spork that is a spoon and a fork. A spoon is much easier to use than a fork for little ones. Also if his eating plate is curved on the sides he can push his food to the side to get it on the spoon. Please don't make a big deal about manners as right now it is important for him to eat and be happy. It is part of a child how they develope. Practice as he is doing and he is doing fine. Mealtimes should be family time and pleasant; talking and eating together and not stressful.

Hi--

We've had Verizon for 2 1/2 years and just upgraded from our original phones. We got the nv2 (say: envy 2) and I really like it. It has a 2.0 megapixel phone plus calendar (hit the bottom of the ring inside to activate). We don't use the internet though we can do it when we need to for about $4-5 bucks a shot--saved a lot of money we didn't know we were spending. Mine was free and my husband's was $50--we got $50 discount at time of purchase plus we're getting $100 rebate (we just bought them last month). Be careful--there's a $25 activation fee per phone so our bill was much higher than we expected this month.

One thing about the nv2--the top flips up and exposes a large screen as well as a regular keyboard. I do a lot of texting to my best friend so that was important. It took a few times to figure out how to use the new phone as ours were old enough they hadn't been making them for a year or two but I really do like this one. PLUS--it comes in black or dark red. Love red. Was very happy. :)

Also--when you go, take your old phones--they can switch everything EXCEPT THE CALENDAR into the new phone's memory. I didn't have to worry about losing contacts or pictures. It was very cool. :)

Good luck--we bought ours at the Verizon store on Lone Tree and Empire in Brentwood.
