Does anyone have any experiences to share with Verizon's new FIOS offering for high speed internet and tv? They offer in my neighborhood and we are considering switching. I would love to hear any positive or negative experiences from current users.
Thanks.

We switched about a year ago to consolidate services and bills (and save some money), and have had very few problems. The video-on-demand feature sometimes glitches out, but no more than our previous provider's did. The internet's been flawless -- and I telecommute so this is real important. We also are very happy w/ Fios' channel offerings -- more hi-def than we had previously, and my husband's a hi-def geek so this was important too.

Can't comment on the phone part as we no longer have Verizon phones (not cellular or at the house; got Vonage for our house line).

Hi R.,

We switched TV, phone, and Internet to Fios about 3 weeks ago. So far, it's been great. However, the first bill is a bit larger than the others, because of installation and getting on the right billing cycle, so be sure to work that into your budget calculations for the first month you have the service, if you do switch.

It has been awesome so far.

Good luck! C.

We just switched to Verizon FIOS yesterday. The picture is much clearer, and the internet is faster than cable. The technicians doing the installation were amazing. They were quick, thorough and extremely courteous. The only limitation is that they can only do 7 televisions currently (we needed 9, but they used a splitter to connect 8).

We have it all, and absolutely love it. It will freak you out the first time you have a problem, and they can get into your tv or computer and fix it remotely.

Well, my husband works for Verizon, so of course I have to say it's the best way to go. But seriously, he has said that it really is, aside from what he's "supposed" to tell people, you know? :) The weather doesn't affect anything, and it's more clear, too. I hope this helped, if you have any questions about it, feel free to ask, my husband loves helping people! He can have Verizon call you with answers to ALL of your questions! If you're interested, give me your name and number, and we can help you out!
p.s. I have a toddler princess, too! :) (an one on the way!!)

CAN'T GET FIOS TV AND INTERNET TOGETHER!
We have had Verison FIOS internet for about a year now and love it.
My only complaint is when we tried to get the FIOS TV too we were told we couldn't have it because our FIOS internet is a business account. Then 3 months later we were told we could have it! They scheduled an install for the TV and everything. But called the morning of the install and cancelled because there were technical impossibilities of giving us FIOS TV while we had FIOS internet.
I still don't understand the technical aspect of why we can't have it but it has something to do with my DH running his buisness server on the same line.
We still have insistent Verison sales representatives come to our door peddling us a product (FIOS TV) that is incompatible with the FIOS internet. It's annoying because they won't take "It won't work" for an answer.
They really need better informed sales reps.

We have phone, internet and cable from Verizon. The biggest problem we are having is that we got them all at different times and now they can't seem to get it all billed together. They service is good, but they're billing department is really screwed up. I love the video on demand - I no longer have to record Dora on a daily basis. The DVR has a few features that I like, but on the whole it is not nearly as good as Dish. There's no 30 second forward skip, and if you FF too fast, it kicks you straight to the end and you have to start over. But it offers good channels, and you still have good picture even when it rains, which we didn't have with Dish.

LOVE IT! We have had the service for almost a year now (both TV and internet). It is nice to get one bill for phone, tv, and internet.

We highly recommend the switch!

It's great. We love it. The internet is super fast with no issues whatsoever. The TV is great and the HD channels come in clearer than our previous cable provider. Sometimes, there are a few little glitches (the screen goes black for a millisecond or the VOD doesn't work but that's about the same with any provider...little glitches.

THe VOD free kids stuff is great. They have all kinds of free, on demand, kid shows...blue's clues, mickey mouse clubhouse, handy manny, etc. It's great.

We've had the phone and a dsl line for years and finally got the Fios for internet, tv and phone a couple of months ago and LOVE it. LOVE the DVR. The tv picture is so much clearer and the internet is soo fast! Didn't have any problems with getting it all on one bill and it's so much less expensive than what I had with Comcast and then Time Warner (hated them). We didn't have to pay for installation they had a special when they first put it in our neighborhood.
Good luck. I highly recommend it.

R.,
I use Verizon Fios for my internet, tv, and phone. I love it. I had one problem one time when my internet seemed slow - I called customer service and the guy walked me through how to fix it over the phone so that I woulsn't have to pay a service fee for them to come out and fix it.
Let me know if you have any more specific questions.

Hi R. -

The Verizon FIOS is wonderful. We have a 3 year old and a 5 year old. It's great to use the DVR (digital video recorder) feature (much like TiVO) and tape a favorite cartoon or special mama show that I can then watch later. And I can watch it on any of our TVs hooked up to FIOS. The quality of picture is also enahanced over normal cable channels and the price is reduced if you use other Verizon offerings.

we've had it for nearly a year and a half and love it.

All the best in your decision.

We have had it about a month now and love it! Internet is super fast and the TV service is great. The picture seems clear to us. There are a ton of kid channels and the on demand is great as well. We decided to pay extra for DVR and now record our favorite shows and watch them commercial free. Hope this helps!

I switched and am very happy with the price and quality of service. The installation takes a bit of time (at least 4 hours if not more - I think they tell you it can take up to 8 hours), but the technician was very neat (with cabling) and professional. I've had it up and running for almost 3 months and have had zero problems. The speed is not quite as fast as what I had with comcast (and now Warner), but for the price difference and the service, I think it is definitely worth the switch.

We had the FIOS internet service when we lived in Grapevine and I absolutely LOVED it. It was FAAAAAAAAAAAAST and extremely reliable. We never had any connection problems and we were very impressed with the service. We did not have the TV service, so on that I am unable to comment on that. Good luck!
