Hi i am 32 weeks pregnant with my 2nd child and seeking advice on a VBAC, My current Ob-gyn will not work with me on my quest for natural childbirth. Any recommendations on Ob's, midwives, hospitals in the the homer glen/orland/tinley/mokena/new lenox area where they will listen to my concerns and help aide me to deliver naturally. I have insurance but not a lot of exrtra cash to spend on options that are not insurance friendly. I really need to find a good ob soon!

What can I do next?

I did not need c-sec's with either of mine, but did do natural with them both with midwives. I went to West Suburban Women's Health in Willowbrook and delivered at Hinsdale Hospital. I also live in Mokena, so it was a 45 min drive, but had plenty of time each time and thought it was a good hospital. It is an all female office with 2 (maybe now 3) midwives and 4 doctors. Sounds like you got some options for down here, but I'm not sure if there are any midwives at any of these. I'm also not sure if the midwives at my office do VBAC or if the doctor has to do it, but it's worth a shot to ask. I loved the staff, midwives especially, and they made the birth so much easier with their support! Good luck to you and it's great you're sticking up for yourself and getting educated on the topic. Their number is ###-###-####.

Hi S. - loyola has a new facility in Homer Glen and I would assume that they have OBs in the office. I would maybe give them a call and inquire. The website for Loyola is http://loyolamedicine.org/.

Good luck on your search.

I am in the same position as you. I am 27 weeks with my 2nd, also wanting a VBAC. I did try to get intouch with a midwife in the area but never got a response from her.

My previous doctor for my son's pregnancy and birth as well as a miscarriage was Ed Ryan, of OBGYN and Associates, in Orland Park. He would also not participate in a VBAC. I get why doctors like scheduled c-section (because they are easy to plan) but then they try to tell you that major surgery is a better idea that a VBAC (riiight). I switched from him to my new doctor at the beginning of this pregnancy.

My new doctor is Anita Arora. She has an office in Orland Park (in the mall circle) and another in Oak Lawn. She is open to the idea of a VBAC for me. She said that if I were to have any complications (like pre-e) then I would recieve a c-section. In order for me to have a VBAC, I have to go into labor on my own, and progress on my own. This is exactly what I want as well (no intervention) so I agreed with her.

Good luck in finding a new OB who will work with you. Congrats on your little one on the way!

My first child was natural delivery then I had my 2nd child by C-section and then I had 2 more children by VBAC. My doctor is dr. Umpai, she is in Joliet on Essington road...she works out of Silver Cross and I think she is also at St. Joes. She is awesome and I was so thankful to be able to have the vaginal births after my C-section...it is such a faster recovery time.

Hi S.,
I'm not sure if they do natural childbirth or not but my Ob-gyn was great! Any questions or concerns I had they were helpful and I don't see why they wouldn't do it. Call and ask. Never hurts. Its a practice office. 5 Doctors and all my visits were rotated between them so whoever was on-call delieverd. I liked this because that way I was guranteed to know my delivering doctor.

It's right before the I-80 exit on the West side of LaGrange, the big Advocate building.
I would recommend any of them. Out of the 5 doctors only one is male. I was nervous my first time seeing him but he made the whole experience more comfortable than I thought possible. I hope this helps! OH! They do NOT accept Kid Care. Good Luck!
