Vampires or Zombies?

I adore Vampires. Always have. I think it started with a fascination for Bela Lugosi. Favorite show at the moment is The Vampire Diaries. Although my favorite characters are Elijah and Klaus. I keep hoping that one day Klaus will find redemption.

True Blood, Buffy, and the like have always been entertaining shows to me. However, nothing beats the all time classic Dracula.

LOVE the UK version of Being Human. This is it's last season, and while it has started in the UK, it hasn't here and I am dying to know how they will wrap it up.

I'm also excited for Walking Dead, but I love a good vampire.

Sherri, this first part of my response isn't directed at you, dear.

Uhm, only if you are weak willed. The vast majority of adults (the audience these shows and stories are directed towards), know that these stories and shows are FICTION. Do you think Harry Potter is evil too? I'm a Christian woman. My husband is a wonderful Christian man. We are not "dark" or engaging in evil because we watch these shows. I think you need to re-evaluate your definition of what it means to be Christian.

My husband and I LOVE The Walking Dead. What a great show! I only wish they would produce it a little faster!

I'm a zombie fan. I enjoyed The Southern Vampire Mysteries for a while...but they kind of played out. Too much...sameness. I'm currently reading the the Silo series by Hugh Howey (WOOL 1-5). You can get the whole series on Kindle for a great deal (The WOOL Omnibus edition). It's a post apocalyptic novel....no zombies or vampires, but a very cool plot. Also extremely well-written and Orwellian.

I love them both. Cannot wait for WD tonight, and I'm a Twi-mom for sure. (Team Edward). Loved Interview with a Vampire, old stupid zombie movies, and all things supernatural. Cannot wait to see Darryl and the crew fight the psycho Governor tonight!

As to this genre making you veer toward the "dark side" as Rocio implied, I'm not really buying that unless you are under the age of 18, immature and have no faith foundation or guidance in your life. I'm a Christian and have Christian friends who all read/watch this genre for entertainment purposes only. It's FICTION for heaven's sake. Don't we all need to escape reality every once in awhile? What's wrong with crazy zombies or beautiful vamps as a means of escape?

The Twilight series is tame compared to much "tween" fiction these days. Bottom line on that series is it's a love story, and an old-fashioned one at that where the lead characters "wait" for sex until marriage. I've seen other tween books that don't have supernatural characters who totally have sex at young ages in full force. So if you want to "characterize" a genre as evil, make sure you cover all your bases...

I really don't know which I prefer, since I dont watch tv. BUT I was turned on to Walking Dead, and OMG I absolutely love it!!!!!

My husband & I watched all the seasons in 1 week. I hate waiting, so I will wait for tomorrows new season to end so I can watch the entire season in a couple days.

The only vampire story I ever truly liked was 'Salem's Lot, by Stephen King, and another short story he did as a companion to it, but can't think of the name.

To address Rocio's POV and Christy's response...there are some very formative years in a young persons life where things like this MAY or may not influence a child. Particularly, tweens, early teens...which is sadly what most of this stuff is targeted at. I want to back up Rocio by saying that yes, the occult is very real, but vampires and zombies are NOT. This argument fits if she was asking, "What witch show do you like best?" There truly are witches, magic, and it's all devilry...and that is absolutely something to steer clear of. My husband and I both know this from experience, because we were very heavily occult oriented in our teens and twenties.

We don't let our children watch anything with witches, warlocks, etc...the Harry Potter series, for us, was a huge no no.

However....vampires and zombies are as fictional as talking dogs. No concern there.

(Oh!! And check out the song "Bela Lugosi's Dead" by Bauhaus. One of my favorites from a time way back when. And the zombies makes me think specifically of "I, Zombie" by White Zombie. A bit redundant, but all these years later and I can still hear it.)

i'm with you, vampires have sensual allure (at least the modern ones, traditional nosferatus not so much) but zombies are so friggin' scary that i ca't resist them.
i'm so excited for the new walking dead tonight! i iron on sunday nights and i HATE ironing. WD was the only treat to make it do-able.
i've never read a zombie book, i don't think. when it comes to print, definitely vampires.

Gosh tough one! Vampires can be quite beautiful and zombies can be quite disgusting but for entertainment purposes zombies can really put you on the edge of your seat.

It's all from the zombies perspective. It's really cool to finally hear where they are coming from - and it sucks!! LOL While reading it, I kept telling my DH how much it sucks to be a zombie.

I guess I am more of a vampire lover.

I love True Blood and my husband and I have both read all the Sookie Stackhouse books, sad the series is over!

I read all the Twilight books b/c one of my kids asked me too, they were OK...Bella was far too whiney, IMO. I am waiting until the newest movie comes out in the Redbox.

~Did you know that Charlaine Harris also writes a series called 'The Harper Connely Series'...they are not about Vampires but about a girl who was struck by lightening and now has the ability to locate the dead...they are very short but really good, I have read all of them that are out now too..I recommend them.

Haven't ever gotten into The Walking Dead...too creepy for me, I have come to realize that I am a bit of a wimp when it comes to scary stuff as I age!

I decided that my only foray into the vampire world would be Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel. Nothing afterwards. I liked those series and just didn't want to like anything else, I guess!

No zombies for me. The movie i am legend scared the beejeebers out of me.

I enjoy both frankly. It is entertainment, nothing more. I don't believe watching this stuff opens the portal for evil or goes against Christianity at all. It is a story...it is fiction...nothing more.

I don't know how anyone could find zombies romantic, even though I saw Warm Bodies today, and aside from the brain eating, it was super duper adorable.

The Women of the Otherworld series by Kelley Armstrong is really good, it has vampires, werewolves, witches, all kinds. And I like that it switches main characters in the book, so one book might be Elena the werewolf, another might be Cassandra the vampire, another will be Jamie the Necromancer. But they're all interconnected.

And if you want a really good zombie book, I highly recommend World War Z. It's about a reporter going to different parts of the world to find out what people's lives were like before, during, and after the Zombie Apocolypse. So they've defeated the zombies, but the world is still a mess and he's trying to preserve all their stories. It's very interesting not just as a zombie apocolypse novel, but also in a socio-political, how would people in Wichita, KS vs people in Japan vs people in Russia react to the threat and deal with it. It is a very good read. The movie.....doesn't look anything like that, so I'll probably avoid it.

I also really enjoy the Walking Dead, and I'm enjoying the US version of Being Human, which is about a werewolf, a ghost and a vampire deciding to share a house.

OH! And the Blood Ties books/tv show! It's about Henry Fitzroy, the bastard son of Henry VIII, who's been turned into a vampire, helping a private detective in Canada with demonic/supernatural activity. The show didn't last long, but I loved it, and the books are also very good. In the show he's a graphic artist and in the books he's a romance novel writer. I love them both, even though they're about as different from each other as the Southern Vampire books are from True Blood.

I didn't watch Vampire Diaries because the books were SO BORING, but I've heard the show is good so I might pick it up on Netflix this summer.

This is an old movie but I loved 'Interview with a Vampire'. It had my heart beating so fast.

I love vampires (But only certain ones... The romantic ones, not the creepy killer ones :P )

I hate all other things like that though aka Zombies, Werewolves, and even most of the Witches you see on TV (I think that they way over dramatize Witches and it annoys me)

I enjoyed anne rice and buffy and angel, I hated twilight. I think I hated it because is got off the traditional myths so far. I loved true blood on tv. I don't really care much for zombies.

HATE VAMPIRES.......and Than again I used to hate zombies. Until my best friend introduced me to ''The walking Dead''. Then I found myself discussing with neighbors what our ''game plan'' for the zombie apocalypse would be.

I dont have cable, so I had to wait for a bootleg copy of the first half of season three......I am now awaiting the body count from my best friend on a weekly basis.

I have a panic disorder, so I can not have any form of adrenaline rush, if I can avoid it. so when I watch seasons one and two I had to have her with me to tell me what was going to happen ahead of time.

I still hate the cheesy side of the zombies. Netflix has a Documentary that makes a case that zombies could actually be a force to happen....It is totally farce if you ask me...but the kids enjoyed it.

I think ''The walking Dead'' hit it with a home run! The story line (albeit a little loose in the beginning but it worked enough to get the point across) hands down the best I have watched. The love story. The friendships and loss. Daryl and Carol! LOVE!

I think I have now watch from start to finish every episode about 100 times(if not more).......Season three was not as dark so my kids love the fact that they can handle it...More live people less dead.....Zombies more under control.

I can not wait for World War Z. The special effects look a little cheesy...I mean they have the zombies moving at the speed of sound and able to scale a whole building in the mater of seconds(at least from the trailers I have seen so far).

I CAN NOT WAIT FOR MY BOOTLEG COY OF SEASON 3 PART 2!!!! Until then I will look forward to my sneak peek trailers on AMC.com and from my besties.

Never thought I would be so addicted to Zombies. I will stop it at that. Vampires and werewolf's are just across my ''too cheesy'' line.

I was happy to see Lori go. I thought they did it so tastefully.

T-Dawg was kind of a shock....but he did it to save carol, after he had been bite anyways.

I wish Andrea would just go already. Talk about a waste of story line...Although it does suite her to sell out on the one person who saved her....for the normal comforts of the old ways. She was always a pawn....so I guess keeping her has been smart.

Rick reminds me of my husband. Which made watching it the first time a little more of a tear fest.

I seriously could talk about this show for hours(ok maybe not hours plural but it is a fun show to talk strategics for fun!....also I found myself looking around my yard shed and garage for zombie killing tools......being laid up injured at home has made me a nerd:))
