Vaginal Weights? *TMI Information If You Want to Avert Your Eyes* ;)

Since having my first child, I'm a little wider. I noticed that whenever I wear a tampon it doesn't fit all the way in and sex isn't as much fun as it used to be. When using tampons it sticks about about a quarter of an inch and there is no pushing it in there so since having him (almost 4 years ago) I haven't used tampons :( I am so irritated by this fact since every year I get my period at the beach!! My OB said that she wouldn't "touch" it until I'm done having kids, well I just had my second and I am done. I spoke with my OB today and she recommended Kegals and vaginal weights to tighten things up before moving toward anything more drastic. I'm fine with this because I really don't want to have surgery if I don't have to. So my question is have any of you ever used vaginal weights? Did it make a difference? While looking online I noticed there are a bunch of different types, which ones should I buy? I saw Vaga Care & Aquaflex and they are NOT cheap so I want to make sure that I buy ones that I'll be "happy" with ;) Thanks Mamas!!

What can I do next?

Just do Kegels to start. www.babyfit.com has some good articles about it to get you started. The weights don't make much difference unless you are doing a couple hundred reps of Kegels a day and aren't satisfied with results in 6-8 weeks. The weights might help you recognize the muscles to contract if you don't know how to Kegel properly. Be patient. Your body has been through a lot having 2 kids. It will improve, but you will never be exactly like it was before having kids. Aging also plays a role in this and you can't reverse that entirely. As for enjoyment of intimacy, you might try some new techniques because sometimes that's a bigger factor than physiological changes of childbirth. I've seen women who swear they have great sex even though you'd never know it by looking at their "equipment" post 3 or more kids...and yes, I happen to be one of them. Best wishes! I bought a set of Benwai (sp?) balls from a Passion party not long ago. I'm preggo so I've been scared (or embarrased-what if they don't come out?!) to try them just yet. They come in three or four sizes/weights and from what I hear, some women get to where they can hold them in while they are shopping at a store!

Hi, Hollie:
They also have Biofeedback for strengthening the pelvic muscles also.
Ask your Doc about that and look on the web.
Hope this helps.
Good luck.

Just do kegels faithfully. I was so scared I would change that I was doing levels during pregnancy and all the time afterwards.

It's a habit now and my baby is 17! Per hubby, tmi, you'd never know I gave birth

I too would look into biofeedback first. That's what I did. I went to therapy once a week. She did not recommend the weights for me though but did say to continue Kegels. There is an improper way to do them and I thought I knew how to do them. She corrected me. It's been 3 years since I had my 2nd and it's better so it does take time. I almost had the surgery last year but since you can't lift anything over 10 lbs for several weeks, I didn't want to do it since I still had a little one that loved to be carried. Plus, it's not gauranteed. Good luck.

do kegel exercises. talk to your OB.

I've NEVER heard of vaginal weights. Benwa balls - also help - as it take muscle control to keep them in there. I've never used them but talk to my GFs who have. Says they improve orgasms too! LOL!!!

So try kegels. Work out and work on your "core" muscles. Your vagina is a muscle. it needs a work out!

good luck!!
