Vacuum Cleaner That Works Best with Dog Hair

hello fellow moms,
For Christmas I am going to ask the family for a new vacuum and I would like some ideas on the best vacuum for dog hair. Our dog, Karl, is a beagle mix and sheds constantly and my son is almost 6 months and starting to move. thank you in advance for the ideas.

What can I do next?

I have 2 kids, 2 dogs, 2 cats, a bird, guinea pig, gerbil, and a husband. Needless to say I need a good vacuum that could contend with all of that. I love my Dyson DC-17 Animal vacuum. I got my vacuum as a Christmas gift last year. I bought it at Kohls on sale and less a 30% off coupon for around $350. I had my husband wrap it up after I tried it once, then opened it for Christmas.

I have the Oreck XL and I love it. I have a golden retriever that sheds constantly and the vacuum works great. My friend has a Dyson and tried mine and liked it better. I have had it about five years and knock wood not a problem. I recommend this vacuum to everyone.

I'll ditto all the responses about Dyson. We have two welsh corgis that shed a lot, and the Dyson we have works great. Pricey, but definitely worth it. Also, we didn't get the "animal" Dyson, b/c they didn't have it in stock where we were shopping. But the one that we have works like a charm.

Kirby vacuum cleaners are the best! My son sells them and he sells them to people who own orecks and dysons.

I have linolum floors in the kitchen and a dog that sheds. The vacuum easily sucks up the hair and makes the floor look like it was mopped! I Love it!

I have an Electrolux Harmony vacuum, and I love it! I have two cats, and it works great on cat hair. I recommended it to my mom and my best friend, who both have dogs (a golden retreiver and pit bull) and they really like how well it works on dog hair. It is a lightweigth vacuum, with a HEPA filter, incredibly quiet (for a vaccuum!), and has a separate setting for wood and carpet, and a special pet hair setting that grabs the put hair off rugs and hard flooring. It's not cheap, but it works great!

Oreck XL $400+
It works great with my 2 golden retrievers.
I have had it for more than a year.
Before this I had a phantom(fair suction)(I don't like the bagless)
Prior to that I had a Hoover that I had to open and clean the dog hair out after every use.
I strongly recommend the Oreck.

Hello K.,
I think the best vacuum to own is a kirby.Granted it is a thousand dollars, but it is well worth it if you have children and pets.I have a 16 month old son with allergies.I swear by my kirby.

Our Eureka Boss works well at picking up our Boxer's coarse hair. However, as our daughter was learning to crawl (she is now walking), we learned that she was the best Swiffer money couldn't buy, lol. Good luck.
