Vacuum Cleaner
I am looking to buy a new vacuum, but I am not sure which is better for my family. I have 5 month old, and we have carpet throughout most of the house. I know he will start crawling within the next few months, and my hair sheds like a dog, so I want something that will really pick small things up. Something of good quality that wont cost me an arm and a leg. Thanks!!!!

I just got a Dyson from Sams ($459) and it's worth every penny! I vacuumed my carpet with my old vacuum and then went back over it with the Dyson. What an incredible difference! THe Dyson seemed to be full of cat hair. And, I swear to you that my carpets look brighter (I think because it's missing all the cat hair now). I have always cheaped out and gotten a $150-200 vacuum but now I will never do that again.

Absolutely get the DYSON!!! They are awesome. They suck up so much more stuff. The first time I used it, it was full in just one small room (after I had just vacuumed wiht my other vacuum). They are expensive but worth it. If this makes sense...all the 07 are the same machine, just different colors/attachments. The 14 are all the same machine too, just different colors/attachments. I got the Animal / Purple 07 off ebay.com for much cheaper than the stores. It was brand new and there was no shipping charge. You might check that out. They are absolutely worth the money!

look on allthebrands.com they have the dyson dc14 all floors for 429 no tax and free shipping. i've used my parents and i cannot believe how clean the carpet is and how much dust and hair (they have two short haired cats) it picked up even right after vacuming with the hoover they had, which they spent 175 on. dyson is so wonderful and i don't see any problem with just emptying out the dust bin it's so easy and it can be cleaned if you like but the dust will not go back into your carpet this machine has way too much suction for that! good luck!

Ok, so I hate to jump on the Dyson bandwagon... especially since I was such a skeptic and thought that no vacuum clearner could be worth close to $500 (with tax, it is). However, my mother bought us the Dyson Animal because she was worried about "her little angel" getting into the dog hair.
Well, I am a skeptic no longer. The Dyson pulls a LOT more stuff out of the carpet and off the furniture than either of our old vacuums (and was quite happy with my Eureka).
The only downsides that I've found so far are: 1) I wish it had a light... something I hadn't really thought about before, but I miss now; 2) I wish it got closer to the edges of things (my Eureka pretty much did right up to the baseboards) and 3) it needs more suction in the wand.
Other than that, I have to agree with the pp that my carpet actually looks better now.

Dyson all the way victoria! when my husband and i married almost four years ago we registerd for a cheaper vacuum. when we moved into our new home in may we broke down and bought the dyson and WOW it's been well worth it!!! i especially love the "bare floor" setting which basically has put an end to me ever having to sweep indoors! it's great and yes, it does pick up the really small stuff. we got ours at best by and there was a rebate at the time, their not cheap but well worth it for you and your family i think.
god bless and take care,
C.
(i don't normally buy expensive things at all but this is worth it)

I have a Dyson and I love it! It costs a little bit more, but you never have to replace bags or filters. All can be washed, air dryed and then reused. I have never had a problem with it. i have had it for almost 3 years. I think I got it at Sears, but I know that they have it at Target too!
