Can someone please give advice on the good place to stay in Florida. We have 2 year-old child and would not like to travel far from the airport, so it should be within 40 min from the airport and child friendly. Thank you so much in advance.

Which airport? We love Fernindina Beach on Amelia Island, and that's about 30 minutes away from Jacksonville Airport (tops.)

The beaches of South Walton are heavenly. Located in the panhandle of Florida, there are two convenient airports- Fort Walton Beach (code VPS) and the new Panama City Beach airport, where Southwest flies. The beaches are white and the ocean blue.

We like to stay in Destin. We usually drive, but you can fly into Fort Walton Beach, which is about 40 min from Destin.

Pelican Beach Resort is fantastic. I like this better than the other 10 places we have stayed there.

I was just at a meeting in Florida in St Pete's Beach and I stayed at the Island Grand Tradewinds Resort. The beach is gorgeous and it's about a 30 minute drive from Tampa airport. My room was beautiful, with a balcony overlooking the beach and a refrigerator and microwave in the room. Apparently they are in the process of redoing the rooms, so some are a little older and not as nice, at least according to other people at the meeting. They also have pools, one is adults only and the other is for families. There is mini-golf, tennis, paddleboats, a fitness center, etc. It's very kid-friendly, but most of the activities were for children older than 2.

We loved Sanibel Island. We flew into Ft. Myers and drove a short drive over to the island. There are tons of shells that our son loved hunting for. It is very relaxing and laid back. Not really somewhere you want to go if you want a busy itenerary.

It really depends on where you were wanting to go...

I'd start with that first - Northwest, East Coast, South Coast, etc. or if you have an airline you plan to use, I'd see where they fly to in Florida and make decisions based on that.

I think there are a lot of airports near beach destinations in Florida so travel from airport shouldn't be too bad.

I'm partial to the northern gulf coast area - Ft Walton/Destin, Panama City Beach but have also visited farther down the west coast - St Petersburg/ Clearwater, Ft Myers, and all the way down to Key West. Destin and Clearwater are probably my favorites!

Have a great trip!

My girlfriends and I rented this house in Delray Beach, FL. Charming house with very family-friendly touches. Owner was fantastic to work with as well! We flew into Ft. Lauderdale and drove less than 30 minutes to the house.
