UTI Prevention
Does anyone have advice for preventing urinary tract infections? I've gotten 2 since having my son (7 months old) and I hate taking the meds because nothing is considered completely safe while breastfeeding...I would just prefer not to get them. Thanks!

this is what I tell my patients with recurrent UTIs :
1- drink plenty of water everyday
2- add acidic juice to your diet such as cranberry, orange, or grapefruit juice
3- take vitamin c daily
4-urinate before and after intercourse and also when you have the urge
5- wipe from front to the back
6- avoid bubblebaths, bath oils, and powder
7- eat celery, parsley, and watermelon because they are natural diuretics
8- use sanitary pads instead of tampons if you get UTIs frequently
9- if you have more than 3 UTIs within short periods of time, you need to be checked by a urologist to rule out other problems
Good luck and let me know if you have anymore questions.

Hello A.,
Make sure you drink plenty of water and cranberry juice. Also stay away from using perfume to spray down there, cause that causes yeast infection..I know this is going to sound a little too personal, (but hey we are all women here) I was told by my doctor to make sure that your husbands finger nails and hands are always clean when touching you. I hope this little bit helps.
