My 2 year old daughter has a fever of 102.3 with no other apparent symptoms (other than fatigue).
I just noticed that her urine has a bit of a smell to it. Could it be a UTI?
I'm wondering if she needs to go to urgent care in the a.m.?
We've been giving her tylenol, cool baths and rest.
I don't know, but 102 is high. If it's 102 after she's had Tylenol, I would take her somewhere ASAP.
Just take her to get her checked. My 19 mo old SON had one in Dec. He was grabbing his crotch and crying at me when he was trying to pee (in diapers). I've had them so know how painful they can be. I always get to the DR immediately when I get one, why wait when you think your kid has one?
yes take her in, this exact thing happened to my 18 month old except her fever was 104.5. everything else checked out normal, it did end up being a uti & they started her on antibiotics that day
You won't know unless you take her in and they test her sample. They will be able to tell right away. Poor thing. There is also a virus going around that my daughter got that was a fever (high) and a headache and no other symptoms. Take her in and check it out.
It absolutely could be a UTI!!! We have 2 little girls and have been around the bend with UTI's. My oldest got one when she was 4 months old and had a fever of 101 and no other symptoms, I took her and they found UTI and treated it right away. My youngest, when it happened when she was 10 months I figured no worries, took her in they put her on med and we left. Problem was she didn't react to the meds and so it was like it was untreated, it then turned into a kidney infection that caused her to be hospitalized.
If you are at all concerned go to the doctor. Your "Mom Gut" knows when something is wrong. If I hadn't taken my youngest in the night I did, even though everyone around me said to wait and let the medicine have one more day, she would have wound up in more serious trouble and the doctor told me that we would have been facing something much worse.
I'm not at all trying to scare you and this is totally a rare case what we went through. mostly I'm just saying get her checked, trust your gut and either way keep her drinking. UTI or not the best fight (I also used Advil not Tylenol, my kids respond faster to it, just NO aspirin) for a fever is lots and lots of fluids.

Take her to the doctor, just to be sure. I think when the urine has a cloudy color or a tinge of blood color, then it could be a UTI. The odor of it might just be that she's dehydrated because of being sick. Definitely take her to the doctor to be sure. Good luck.
If her urine has a smell and she has a fever I would def. have her checked. My daughter had one at age 1 and had the same symptoms and it's easily treatable but you don't want to let it go. They may give her a catheter but sometimes for that age they just seal a small bag to her inside her diaper and then take the sample from that. It's not as bad as it sounds. Also, since she is so young they may have her go through a few painless tests to check and make sure she doesn't have any issues that may have caused it. My daughter had to have an x-ray and an ultrasound of her kidneys. Usually these tests turn out fine and are just to make sure. Your little one wiGll probably not like it but they are quick and painless. Good luck, and don't worry, if it is a UTI her symptoms will clear up soon after she starts meds and it's very common at this age.
Strep is going around. My kiddo went to Care Now today b/c of her fever w/no other syptoms and they did a strep test that was possitive. I would take her in the a.m. It can also make their breath stink too.
Yes it could be a UTI, and also she could be getting dehydrated with the fever so her urine is concentrated. Without a doubt take her to urgent care as soon as you can.
