Pregnant @ 8 Wks and Already Gained 10 Lbs.

Is it normal to gain this much weight so early in the pregnancy? I am a mother of a 1 yr old. I didn't start showing until I was 4 months w/my daughter. I don't have any morning sickness and my diet hasn't changed.

What can I do next?

Every pregnancy is different. My advice to you is to lay off of any extra salt and don't buy any canned goods. They are loaded with sodium.

Sorry, but the second time around everything seems to happen a little faster. I started wearing my maternity clothes way early.

Hi, First of all congratulations. Hope you have a great pregnancy and delivery.

Anyway, considering its only been a year since you had a baby you will be most likely to gain weight faster than the last. You do need to watch what you eat though. Try to eat healthy.

Hope this helps and best wishes to you and your family.

With some people you gain some and then you start to lose it again. I did this with all three of my children.

If you are truely worried then go to the doctor you are the only one that knows your body.

I gained all my weight up until my 5th month then they discovered I had Gestestional (sp) diabetes. Once I was diagnosed I changed my diet and didn't gain a pound. Do not get me wrong I gained 35 pounds the entire pg. Talk to your doc if you have any concerns. Congrats!

Hi B., I am almost 9 weeks pregnant w/ my 2nd and I have already gained 10 lbs as well. Everyone tells me including my doctor that its normal to gain faster w/ the second one. Also, I haven't changed my diet-if anything I'm eating less b/c I am so nauseaus-but still have yet to throw up. Good luck w/ your pregnancy-its normal. But if you are realy concerned ask ur dr.

Hi,

I am a senior midwife student. It is not uncommon to gain quicker than with the first pregnancy. Don't fret over how much you gain. Concentrate on eating healthy. You need to eat 80 grams of protein a day. Drink plenty of water, and salt your food to taste. You should not decrease your sodium intake. Your body needs sodium to help build your blood supply and it helps to pull extra water out of your tissue. Also, if you have a craving for sugar that is usually the body actually needing protein. Protein intake is the best way to build your blood supply, support your liver and head off complications such as pre-eclampsia.

Take Care,
L.

Could you be further along than you may think? There is also the possibility that you have more than one in the oven...How exciting! Dont worry, just drink plenty of water and do a little exercise to get you heart rate going...also eat several times a day in small amount and you will stay full and keep your metabolism strong...good luck
