Uplifting Book Suggestion
I am in a book club and we're doing a Secret Santa book exchange. The gal I chose is not particularly picky about the type of book, but requested something that is "not depressing"! Haha! While I am an avid reader, it seems every book I think of is rather sad or has some sort of devastating event. Can anyone recommend an uplifting book? Thanks in advance!

A lot of Janet Evanovich's books are pretty funny. Also Sophie Kinsella's books are cute (Confessions of a Shopaholic, etc.). There usually isn't anything too depressing in those books and they make me laugh out loud! :) Good luck!

Marisa de los Santos has two good ones, Belong to Me and Love Walked in. I also love Quentins and The Scarlet Feather by Maeve Binchy.

I love Adriana Trigiani's books--they are well written, and fun. Depending on the person, you might also try Bossypants by Tina Fay.

"Happy All the Time" by Laurie Colwin. It's one of my 'go- to' books when I need a dose of perspective. No deaths, no cataclysmic events. Her other books aren't this way, but this one is really great. I've passed it around to several friends who have also enjoyed it. So much I almost didn't get it back!
