Well, we have gotten to the point where our nursing will stop on Wed. Thank you so much for everyones support and help. She is doing great on breast milk and we found goodstart by nestle as her fav for formula. I have stored away enough milk to hopefully give her atleast a bottle of moms milk for the rest of the month and then she will have the rest of the day food and formula.

As for me, I was told to wear tight sports bras? Any other advice on drying up?
Thank you!

MAYBE...I spoke to soon. Today everything came up. She doesnt have a fever but I mean everything came up! I grew up with allergies to milk and I had to have soy milk. So did my first born. I'm worried we are going through this all over again!

What can I do next?

I would avoid the tight bra thing - it's a recipe for mastitis. The cabbage leaves to help. Also consider pumping (infrequently) to relieve engorgement - or nursing her one last time (or 2) on each side will accomplish the same thing.

I've managed to wean my son off of one breast (the "loser" side) but he still nurses 1x/day off the other side. With the one that he's done with, he ate less and less off that side and then we began skipping days. Finally, I went about 4-5 days without nursing him off that side, then did one time, and I haven't nursed him since on that side (it's been 2 weeks now) - I think it's completely done, and I had NO pain or engorgement.

Since you have an older baby (right?) you may not have to do much. It depends how many feedings she was still getting from you, what her solid intake and other liquids was... When I weaned my oldest at one year I didn't have to do anything. I was never sore, a little big, then just over a week or so, deflated. I think I had some leaking though, so you may want to have some protection from that front. Of course at the end he was at one feeding in the morning and thats it.
As far as everything coming up... could be temperature too... Ask around and see if someone has some soy milk formula and try that. Good luck! :)

As far as drying up my sister chose not to breastfeed and placed cold cabbage in her bra for a few days i think (switching the leaves of course) and she highly recommends this!Good luck

I did the cabbage it helped its really weird to put cabbage in your bra, but it really works. You can use it warm or cold. Just wrap it like a cup around your boob, then put your bra on, you will see it being seeped out of your body. Good Luck!

Putt cabbage leaves in the freezer and put them in your bra. I wore a sports bra and did the cabbage thing. It may take 3 or 4 days, but it works. Change them out when they start to wilt. Just to warn you....the smell is so bad!

I stopped breast feeding when my dd was 5 months old. She is now almost 11. My breasts are still full of milk. I have done everything possible to dry them up. If I don't wear a bra, I leak a ton. Also during intercourse. I don't have to wear nursing pads, but it's still a pain in the butt. I only tell you this, so that if you don't dry up totally, it's no big deal. Try to get the soy formula. I think Nestle makes one. Target and WalMart also have really good store brands of formula. They're about 1/2 the price of other formulas. I spoke with a dietician about giving them to my dd and they said they were perfectly fine. GOOD LUCK!
