Unpainted Toys Made of Natural Wood
Years ago when I had two young children, I got them only unpainted toys made of natural wood. No plastic, no small parts, no paint. There were a couple of stores that specialized in that kind of toy. Now, when I want to get the same types of toys for my grandchildren, I can't find any. Do any of you know where there is such a toy store between San Francisco and San Jose? I'm going to be in D-E-E-P trouble with my daughter if I don't find those kinds of toys before Christmas!!! Thanks for any suggestions you have.

Try www.etsy.com -- buy handmade!
If you can go with painted, Holztiger makes beautiful wooden animal toys, and last time I bought them, I got them at Tiny Tots in Campbell:

I have 3 natural wood animal toys crafted by my daughters in Hillview Middle school's 7th grade woodworking classes; and I know M-A high school has a wood working class also; these places could be your last resorts...!
Good Luck!

There are lots of places that sell this stuff on the internet. If googling "natural wood toy" doesn't work, try googling "Waldorf toys."

Don't worry, Wooden toys are having a re-birth.
Try Cheeky Monkey in Menlo Park or Kepler's bookstore in Menlo Park has so has some as well! Some good brands are "Plan Toys" or "Melissa and Doug"
There is a toy store at he beginning of the shopping stores on University Ave in Palo Alto that has almost all wooden toys. (I find them to be more expensive then the others, but you might want to check it out). Even Target has some natural wooden toys now!
There is also a store called "Day One" in the Town and Country Village in Palo Alto which has some and has some wooden toys and very nice wooden bowls (which I love).
