Unlimited Internet

I read all these posts about streaming movies and tv and think, how are people able to watch much and not pay massive fees in internet usage?

I've heard that if you have internet through the cable company that it's unlimited, but cable is not an option for those of us who live in the country. Are there other ways to have internet that do not limit your usage?

What can I do next?

Our cell phones still have unlimited data. I stream music all day long so my husband and I both generally get to about 10-11GB per month. Maybe that's the wrong byte, but it's a lot.

If we get a new phone through Verizon, we have to give it up - so we refuse. I don't know how you get it anymore otherwise - without paying a fortune.

It varies from place to place. Just had a conversation about this a few weekends ago with some relatives. Where they live, they are limited in usage. Where we are, we are not. We get our internet via AT&T's DSL cable. (U-verse isn't available here though, not in my neighborhood).

No limits or restrictions. Flat fee each month.

Who knows how long it will last... lots of controversy over internet lately... but so far, we don't have limits. When I'm at home, I use Wi-Fi for phones, too.. so I don't use the data on my cell phone that I actually have to pay for by the G.

I do not have a smartphone for data. But I get my internet (broadband with wi-fi) through the phone company. I pay $46 a month for the internet. I still have a landline since I have kids at home.

Even unlimited will limit. There is a satellite internet but I can't remember the name. My husband's family lives in Pontiac. They have "cable internet" it is slower than DSL. Just so you don't think you are missing anything not having cable.

We have line of sight to a local company and we get unlimited. You just have to find the right satellite provider to fit your needs if you can't put an antenna on top of your house that can "see" the nearest line of sight option.

We used to have DSL through AT&T (6 mbps max speed) that had a 150G cap. For a long time we didn't even know there was a cap, but as more things became HD more data was used and we eventually started hitting it every month. They would tack on $10 for another 50G.

AT&T does have an unlimited option, but we chose to switch companies because of speed and price.

We live in town and changed to Charter cable (30+ mbps) internet a few months ago. No data or bandwith limits and cheaper too.

Where my mom lives, there are not many choices. She had satellite internet but it sucked. Lots of dropping connections in her area. Their local cable company charges out the nose because they know they are the best option. She uses a cell phone hotspot instead, but it does have limited data. She does not stream videos or anything else like that, so it isn't an issue for her.

Most cell providers will have an unlimited plan. Metro-PCS advertises one for around $50 per month. That is the cheapest I have seen. Verizon seems the most expensive. http://www.whistleout.com/CellPhones/Unlimited-Data-Plans...
