Unique 1St Father's Day Gift
This year will be my husband's first Father's Day and I would really like to get him something really special. I was thinking about something personalized with our son's name or picture of the two of them somehow. He isn't a cuff link kind of guy......I just wanted something really special for him. ANY SUGGESTIONS?

I bought my husband and son matching shirts. I made it so the gift came from my son (ie..he wants to be like his dad). They were polo shirts (the same color and brand) so it was something they could wear on a daily basis. It went over quite well. I've decided to start a tradition and do it every year.
Good luck.

Hi! I don't know if you are a scrapbook kind of girl, but I made two real simple ones for my hubby that I gave him last year - one for each son. I made a small 7x7 album, covered pages in "ripped/torn" paper and put 1-2 photos on a page with a one word description (ie: bonding, trust, magical, etc). I can share it with you and/or take a photo or two - and if needed, help you make one fast. ;-) Just reply if this sounds like something you'd want to see and/or make in a day.
Sincerely,
D.

She puts a bunch of pictures to music on a DVD. She does a beautiful job. There is an example of her work on her site. Good luck with your search!

My husband is a big movie buff, so I got him a poster of his favorite movie of last year (King Kong) that was autographed by the cast off Ebay. I am going to have that framed for him. Maybe something like that will appeal to your hubby? Good luck!

Hi K.!!
I just got something for my husband for father's day. We went to Sundance in Utah for week a month ago and I took tons of pictures of my husband and my little one on the mountains and playing with the snow. For his gift I uploaded all the pictures on SHUTTERFLY and choose the best picture of the two of them, then I changed it to black and white and added the words; "you are the best dad" and it was super nice on a black frame. This is cool because you can change the effect of the picture and its super cheap!! If you have a cute picture or several pictures you can make a CD for him or a book for his office of all the special moments together. I love shutterfly and I have found tons of stuff to do there. Hope this helps!

Hi K.! Have you thought of a BBQ apron with his hand/foot prints? You could then paint some word's or a phrase on it. Not sure what your husband likes to do, or crafty you want to be, but maybe that would work. Or if he has a favorite sport or sports team a pic of the little one in a jersey that's too big with one of daddy's hats (dress up sorda like) would be cute blown up and framed with maybe tickets to go see them for a father-son/family day. Good luck! Angela

Feat of Clay in Plano sells pottery where you put your baby's foot or hand prints then they paint a theme around them. So cute! I am taking my boys there for a fathers day present for my husband.

I just saw something neat in BabyTalk magazine. Red Envelope sells a valet locket key chain. You can put a picture in it and have it monogrammed.

Also, I have ordered photo notepad cubes with 3 pictures on it (one on each of 3 sides; the 4th side binds the notepad together). It's very cute. Actually, we gave it to all of the grandparents and great grandparents on the kids' first birthday. Everyone loved it.
I hope that helps at least a bit. Good luck and congratulations!

I bought my husband a silver pocket (wallet) piece from James Avery Craftsman for the birth of both of our sons. I engraved our son's name on the back along with his birth date. When they turn 18, he's going to give each his to keep. Both are different, one says "Fear not for I am with you" and the other says "Trust in the Lord........and he shall direct your path."
There are a lot of nice little pieces at James Avery, but if you want something non-religious, what about setting him and your baby up for a black and white candid photo session? Our's are our favorite thing in the house. We used Paul Dyer. He's a master at natural light and BW. He did our wedding, engagement, pregnancy, baby and family shots. He's amazing. Mmmmm.....I think his number is ###-###-####, and his site is www.dyersphoto.com. Tell him J. Wylie referred you. I think he's working in McKinney now. He was in Addison.
Hope you find something perfect!
Oh, one other rather random thing if he's more contemporary. We just wrote an article on DNA and fingerprint art. you get a kit and can send in a swab from both, then you pick a color scheme, then they produce a piece of art for the wall with both of their DNA. Weird, I know, but at least he'll be the only one in town with one! www.dna11.com
