Unexplained Fever?

Anyone know if there is a random fever virus going around? My daughter complained of a little stomach ache and a fever of 101.5 but is acting fine. I don't want to subject her to the doctor's office for a slight virus, but curious if anyone has heard of what's going around? Thanks!

no, but the news anchor on Friday was saying any fever right now warrants a call to the doctor's office. You might just call and see what they say.

Hey consider me the worry wart. With all this swine flu stuff I would call the Dr. and describe symptoms but be prepared to go in.

My daughter had a fever last weekend, it lasted from late Friday until late sat nite. She also threw up once. My friend's child also came down with the same thing

There's always something going around. If she's otherwise fine, you probably don't need to take her in. You might call tomorrow to double check, but if she's otherwise fine they might have you monitor and treat at home.

Just to let you know like most of the others. My son had the random fever a week ago for 4 days straight. It got as high as almost 104. I only gave him the motrin and tylenol when he really hurt and was lying around, but most of the time he was playing. After the 4th day I was concerned and took him in and everything checked out fine and he was fine the next day. Not sure what it was but he had no other symptoms at all. No one else in the family got it so that is why it was strange.

We are on day 3 of fever. Last night his stomach was hurting. His fever has being going up and down. Controlled pretty well with Motrin. He's sleeping alot. I plan on taking him to the doctor tomorrow if the fever isn't gone. I hate taking him to the doctor as well b/c of the germ exposure.

Good luck!!!

Swine flu is going around, I know of several school age kids with positive results, starting with low grade fever and queazy stomach. Strep is going around, I know even more with it. It can present with a stomach ache instead of a soar throat as well. I would call the dr and see that they say.

we had it at our house too. first the 7 yo son, then husband, me, then the 5month baby and then my 13 year old daughter. however we didn't get much of a fever. just 100-101 for the son and daughter. infant didn't go up that i saw and me and hubby only 99-100. we had sore throat, headache, congestion, runny nose. using a saline flush/rinse (sinus) really really helped cut it down to just a few days. I'll say, with school just back in session i'm not surprised at any "out break" of viruses since just being around more people can up your chances of contracting something. my sons first year of school (k) he hasn't been around a lot of kids before that and he had 18 days absent from school that year bc he just kept catching EVERYTHIGN that came around. the next year (last year) he was much more immune (and I imagine we got better at washing hands etc) so he only missed about five days all year.

Both of my four year old boys have had this in the last week and now my hubby started feeling bad Saturday. For my boys it was the fever around 101 and headaches and with one of the twins it was a small amount of vomiting. Several friends at church have had their kids experince almost identical symptoms so there must be a certain strand running around. With back to school, it always seems to flare back up as all those germs get mixed all together again...

Both of my kids have had this. My daughter had fever for 3 days, and on day 3 I took her in for a strep test, which was negative. The dr. said it was just a virus. My son had it too but only had fever for one day.
