Understanding symptoms...again

I am needing some help figuring out what is going on with me. This is my fifth pregnancy (I lost one baby last year and have 3 other children), so you would think that I have this down to an art form by now. I am roughly 8 weeks, give or take a few since they can't quite tell how far I am at this point. I have been so nauseated this time around. I am sick all day, every day. I don't throw up, but just get that wave of sickness all the time. It was never like this with any of my others, and it has been going on for several weeks now. Also, my breasts have been incredibly sore since before I even took a pregnancy test. I've known I am pregnant for a month now, so they have been hurting for about 5 weeks. My back is constantly hurting, and I guess I'm bloated all the time because I look like I'm at least 6 months pregnant (I might add that I quit smoking, drinking pop, and eating most of the junk food I was eating before, which I thought would do me good, but it hasn't been because I look like a beached whale). It just seems like this time, all of my symptoms are more pronounced, and I have some that I've never had before. The nausea is what bothers me the most, because I can't eat more than once a day because of it. I have called my doctor (yesterday), and am still waiting for a call back. I just wanted to know if any other moms had any input on this from your own experiences. Also, what exercises were you able to do while you were pregnant that weren't harmful? I have excess fat around my torso that I really don't want sticking around during this pregnancy, and wanted to get some good ideas on how to lose it. Thanks in advance!

What can I do next?

It has been 10 years since I was pregnant with my son. Seems like I had forgotten a lot of what pregnancy symptoms actually are. I have a lot of the same you are talking about. Lots of nausea I have a hard time eating anything when I start eating it seems as though I just can't finish and a lot of what I eat really doesn't taste good. My OB gave me a paper that suggests trying vitamin B-6 for nausea. I haven't tried it yet as I just seen this yesterday. I would suggest to try it though.
As far as breast tenderness goes. I have also had the same I am almost 11 weeks and they are still so sore that I can hardly stand taking my bra off. All the support my bra gives seems to help with that.

B6 vitamins were the only thing that helped my nausea. I would take one if I thought I felt nausea coming on. Works like a charm!

All sounds normal to me. All my pregnancys were all that!

Breast were sore til about 3mos. They hurt to touch. I had blue veins showing all over my chest. Very sick to my stomach -even had a lot of vomiting w/the first..I lost a ton of weight b/c of it but gained it all back by month 3- The sickness will go away by 4month. Try eating small lil meals- I found my nausea subsided when i ate a lil of saltines. OH I tried the motion sickness wrist bands too & they seemed to work!!!

I "showed" more in the 3rd pregnancy then w/the first pregnancy (our stomach muscle aren't what they used to be)...!!!

If you didn't excercise much before i would not start anything but walking now...I Just walked daily for excercise & that is it.
Don't worry- good luck.

I had the same trouble (nearly) as you...but I threw up all the time. And continued to do so for the entire pregnancy--even the delivery. I lost about 30 lbs instead of gaining weight. You really just need to talk to your OB before you do anything. He/she will probably tell you that you have an iron deficiency, and to take a supplement (which actually made me MORE sick, so be on the lookout for any "excess" nausea so that you can tell your OB right away).

And I probably wouldn't do anything more than light to moderate exercise. If you are feeling puny and aren't eating much, you'll need those reserves to keep you going. I would also tell the OB about your sore back...he might be able to tell you a chiropractor that can help you get re-aligned.

Good luck!!

After an initial miscarriage, I had my second pregnancy that resulted in my wonderful son. That pregnancy was extremely difficult and I was ill as you have been, for the first six months! This resulted in several hospitalizations for IVs and home health nurses coming by and doing IVs. Eventually I found if I sipped cool water mixed 50/50 with orange juice, I didn't feel as ill. I still had that gaggy feeling all the time, but was able to eat. Granted I could only keep down Captain Crunch cereal :-) and York Peppermint Patties, but that was something! I also found out that the prenatal vitamins with iron were a problem for me. I don't react well to iron. If you are on prenatal vitamins, you might try switching to a low or no iron version and see if that helps you too. Good luck!

my doctor told me with my 2nd....that with each pregancy your body recognizes things earlier everytime and although being pregnant may seem like it should feel the same everytime.....it's not going to.
I don't have much advice except that when I was nauseated I drank lemonaide....and pink grapefruit juice...and ate things that were cold...like cold macaroni salad, lots of subway/goodcents, cold or frozen fruit, welches fruit pops, etc.
My sister-in-law was more nauseated than me....daily....she swore by the wrist bands that you wear when you are flying or traveling-one on each wrist.
oh......walk-walk-walk......if you have a tread mill....and of coarse with Dr. approval....i joined a place like curves. low impact...got the heart rate up a little bit....and it was a quick 30 minutes to myself everyday :) this is really good after baby too!
i also took a mommy swim class too...which also helped during and after baby too.
good luck!

I'm about two months along in my second pregnancy and so far everything is like 10x's worse. The only thing that has helped me with the all day naausea is drinking some sprite/7up and mints. I've also been very bloated and look a whole lot farther along than I am too.

Hi J.. Every single pregnancy is different. You won't have one the same at all. Like you I lost a baby myself. With my first pregnancy I really wasn't too nauseated by I did have swollen ankles. After Aaron was born I got pregnant again and lost the baby. When I was pregnant with Michael I was so sick that my doctor almost put me in the hospital. I never threw up, I was just so nauseated all the time. That went on for about 4-5 months. He put me on Zofran (which is used for chemotherapy patients as well as pregnancy now for nausea.) That didn't work. He put me on a medication that is used for patients with schizofrenia but it also helps with nausea. For the life of me I cannot remember what that is called. It only cost me $6.oo for 30 pills as opposed to almost #30.00 for only 9 pills of the Zofran. You would think the more expensive drug would work. It didn't. The less expensive one did. You may want to ask your OB about medications you can take. Pregnant women now are taking these kind of medications very early on in pregnancy with no side effects on the baby at all. However every doctor is different. When I was pregnant with Lindsay, I was a bit nauseated by not much. Sounds to me like you have a very strong healthy pregnancy going on. I always thought of it this way, the more symptoms you have, the sicker you are, the more your breasts hurt....all great signs and symptoms to have. I would rather be sick when I was pregnant than not be sick. If I wasn't sick then I would be very nervous. I didn't "feel" pregnant when I had my miscarriage.

As for the exercises....you should be able to do just about anything you want except lifting extremely heavy weights. When I was pregnant with Michael I exercised at Curves and those are weight resistent machines. You can swim, walk, run, bike....anything that makes you feel comfortable, just don't overdo it. Also, make sure you keep well hydrated.

Good luck and congratulations on the baby to be...

I am currently pregnant with my 2nd at 14 weeks now. I was very nauseated with my first for 6 months with no vomitting. My 2nd has been horrible. My boobs and back has hurt from the beginning and my stomach has been growing so much. I was just nauseated starting at 6 weeks and it gradually got so much worst for me. I started vomitting upto 3 times a day. I have been good for a week now though *knock on wood*, and my stomach seems to not be so swollen. Every pregnancy is always different, but you never expect it to get worst before it gets better.
A lot of friends told me to try the c-band (Im not sure if that is the correct spelling), apparently you can find it at Walgreens, but it is a bracelet with a little pin in it, like acupuncture, and they say that it really helped them with nausea. I never left the house to go get anything. The only thing that helped me with the nausea and vomitting was sleeping. I could only eat fruit and salad, so it helped to eat a meat product every night for dinner also. Lion's choice was always my husbands stop for me on his way home from work. Good Luck and I hope you feel better.

I am currently 6 months pregnant with my second child and this pregnancy has been a lot harder than my first. I was sick for the first three months all day every day. I found that emetrol works really well for nausea. It worked better than the prescription pills my doctor recommended. I am still currently having a lot of back pain but I have found that doing back stretches seems to help a lot. Also my poor husband gives me a lot of massages. My doctor said that the back pain was because my low back muscles are weak. I am too tired everyday to exercise so I don't know any good tips there. Hopefully it will get better soon, that is what everyone kept telling me and I didn't beleive them but it has gotten better. Good Luck and Congrats!
