Uh Oh, Bad Dye Job!
So about a month ago I dyed my hair to a medium brown color and I really loved it. Then the dye faded away (even though it was permanent) and was gone. I went back to the store and bought the same brand of hair dye, but a little bit darker brown, thinking that if it faded this time at least it would be the color I was shooting for. Welllll....this time there is no fading, and even though the box said brown, my hair turned out BLACK! I hate it. It's been a week and it has faded ever so slightly (either that or I'm just getting used to it) and I want to know if there is anything you all know of that can fix my hair. I would like to not put any more chemicals on it since I've put two boxes on in a months time, and I don't want to chance having that many chemicals. But in the mean time is there anything I can put that isn't too harsh that will lighten my hair or even take it back to normal? Thanks in advance!

I would like to recommend my hair stylist Conni Adams. She works in Dallas, but has a Ft. Worth cell no. ###-###-####. She is a color specialist and does a lot of color corrections. She used to teach hair color for Loreal. She knows color exceptionally well better than most. She could probably advise you on what to do. Also her rates are reasonable. Please tell her I referred you. T. O'Connor ###-###-####

I did the same thing a while ago and I read somewhere to use Pert (http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=2008072907354...) and (http://www.ehow.com/how_###-###-####_remove-hair-dye.html) instead of my regular shampoo and then condition it with a good product. I was somewhat skeptical and didn't want to spend too much money messing it up some more, so I bought the travel sized container and saw some results. I used it every other day for two weeks and it worked to some degree. I waited about a month to give my hair a break and then had it professionally colored and highlighted.
Good luck.

I'm sorry this happened!! This is why We as hairstylist/colorist pay so much for our education...Please try going to a salon to get it fixed.. You can't see all the parts of you head,it can get blotchy..I think you would be much happier getting it done right.Just try to find someone in your price range. The thing is; it might cost a little more because of the time and the product that it needs to take to fix it..Good luck!!!

I think I have seen that you can use a mix of hydrogen peroxide and water, mist it daily and it will have the same effect as the sun slowly bleaching out the color a little at a time. I might try googling it to check what the mix of hydrogen peroxide to water is, I am sorry I don't know.

Instead of using a color portectent shampoo, use a regular shampoo. You can rinse with a vinegar solution that doesn't harm your hair. When I dye my hair, shooting for a medium brown I use a light brown and then add a small amount of medium brown. This will keep it from turning black. My hair stylist was real good about giving me suggestions when mixing colors. Hope this helps.

By chance did you leave it on longer during the process? if you did the color could be darker, Before you colored your hair what color was it? Since it has been colored the effect will not be the same, if it originaly was lighter and you applied a dark color it became dark, then when you reapplied it was already dark slightly faded but still darker than original color, if you left it on the same amount of time it would turn out darker than before. To prevent this do not leave it on al long. To help it fade without chemicals, you have a couple of options, Shampoo several times with Baby Shampoo, Pert, Prell these shapoos are high in alkaline and will strip so but, not much color. You may have to use it several time. Good Luck!

When I unintentionally turned my hair fireball red-orange, my colorist/stylist had me wash my hair with baking soda and Dawn. It stripped the color right back to where it was before I made this near-fatal error. I had to do some INTENSE conditioning afterwards, but there was no damage to my hair. Good luck!!!

I did the same thing to my hair about a month ago and I had highlights put in my "bad" hair color and that really helped it a lot! Good luck.
